This list is comprised of potential head/assistant/support staff openings ... it does not mean that the assistant wouldn't necessarily stay on that staff, but with the head coaching change, it is an assumption at the moment that a new HC would hire their own staff.

You're assuming Wichita State will clean house at season's end, then? The release I saw indicated the ACs and the DOBO were staying on at least through the end of the season.

Can always take them off the list, but going under the assumption and typical nature of hiring a new coach, that most of staff will be new. Might have a holdover, but for now just went ahead and put it this way.

until someone officially gets fired or resigns there is no opening at the school... so to list WSU positions is not really fair to those still employed there...

yes, at many schools the entire staff is let go but at others school one or more are retained...

let's hope none of their family members saw the list, indicating they will no longer be at WSU when in fact they are still employed at WSU

I'm not sure I agree with you. Once the head coach is gone, the assistant coaches are all basically free agents. This thread is for the 2017 season and as of now the Wichita State staff are going to be interviewing for new jobs regardless of the status of their interim coach.

Don't worry about parents of adults reading a message board and seeing their adult son or daughter being listed here. I am sure if they speak with their kid they know they are job hunting. BTW thefutureisbright has posted these threads for years now and its never been an issue.

Yes i am aware of the postings over many years...

Again, until the position is posted, you have NO idea what the situation is for those coaches...when you ASSUME you know what that means (you make an ass out of you...)...

Didn't mean to hit a nerve, but let's not get super sensitive over a message board.

I will leave as is for now. If the new hired coach keeps them on staff, they will be removed, as I have done in the past 5-6 years with the list.

Of the 2015-16 New Coaches

57 Head Coaches - 3 Interim (late) = 54

Their staffing included:
3 Interim
12 w no dobo = 36 ACs
20 w dobo = 60 ACs + 20 Support
13 w dobo/video 13 = 39 ACs + 26 Support
3 w dobo/asst dobo/video 3 = 9 ACs + 9 Support
4 w only 2 coaches = 8 ACs
1 w 2 coaches + video 1 = 2 ACs + 1 Support

Those who stayed from previous staff:
9 DOBO
2 Video/Asst DOBO
19 AC (6 circumstances skew) - 1 DOBO bumped up
Dayton Situation - All stayed (too late and unusually circumstances)
Robert Morris - Retiring
Evansville - Interim promoted to FT during season

Not included in #s:
Northern Arizona - Late firing, Interim basis
Grambling State - Late Departure, Interim basis
Morgan State - Late Departure, Interim basis

154 Assistant Coaches hired
56 Support Staff hired
210 Total hired

11 Support stayed = 19.6%
19 ACs stayed = 12.3%

Skewed bc of Dayton and Robert Morris situations and Evansville Interim promoted FT so ...

9 Support Stayed - out of 54 = 16.7%
13 ACs Stayed - out of 145 = 9.0%

In conclusion, they have a chance of staying on staff (and I hope they do and/or land another gig, maybe even a better one) ... but at less than 17% (based on last year's #s) ... this is why I am leaving them on the list until later notice.

After they announced it on the Pac-12 channel they mentioned she was the coach of the 2014 tournament champions (as a 5th seed they beat Arizona, ASU, Stanford, Oregon State).

Beth Burns looking for chance number three at USC ...

But would you hire someone who got $3.5 million from their previous employer after a lawsuit?

Beth Burns was part of the problem at USC. You may want to read the trial transcripts of her recent court case and get some insight into her "coaching style" and the "program culture" she presided over at SDSU. Her contract is over at USC and she too needs to move on.

There must be something more to this. From the article:

In 10 seasons with GCU, May compiled a 195-96 overall record, including a 65-50 record in four seasons of Division I play.

I watched this team play in the 13/14 season. They ran good sets and had a team that hustled all game. Must be something behind the scenes.

Didn't football also add the scion of Briles to the staff? If so, I'd be even more concerned than normal about what kind of atmosphere I was going into.

That was my point about Kiffin. The other places were smart enough to fire him....some of them in the parking lot! FAU didn't sound all that enthusiastic about him either, even after they hired him. Confused

Who wants to work at the school that would hire Lane Kiffin for their football program? Very Happy

Didn't football also add the scion of Briles to the staff? If so, I'd be even more concerned than normal about what kind of atmosphere I was going into.

LOL..... Because he must be the big bad wolf right? Really people......

But would you hire someone who got $3.5 million from their previous employer after a lawsuit?

I wouldn't of hired her after all the issues at Ohio State.

USC Head Coach Job Info.

Based on the "Preferred Qualifications" a Scott Rueck would not be hired. Narrowed minded thinking, IMO

Preferred qualifications include 5-10 years of coaching experience at Division I level and NCAA Tournament experience.

Agreed, I'm shocked that they fired the men's coach so quickly and waited a week for the women.
