I'm wondering what grounds it takes for a player to not have to sit out the transfer season? Florida State has gotten two transfers that didn't have to sit out a year in Romero and White, but Imani Wright did. All the players that transferred into Ohio State and South Carolina last year had to sit out, as do Camara and Stevens this year for UCONN. Was it because White and Romero came from situations and/or schools with major issues? I would think based on the mass exodus from Kentucky and and HR investigation at Duke, that any of those players that transferred out of that school would've been cleared of the transfer year rule.

As it is becoming easier to get a waiver, it also seems to be becoming more arbitrary.

Romero was one of the first puzzlers but there was a lot of public pressure for her.

With Romeo and White it is inexplicable. Just coaching change isn't supposed to be enough of a reason. Heck, it's right in the LOI that it's not a reason. Maybe it's the circumstances of the coaching change in those two situations?

In the others you named there was not even a coaching change, it was simply a matter of "I changed my mind."

I would have thought that the threat of NCAA sanctions hanging over UNC would have warranted a waiver for Mavunga, Gray and Washington, but evidently it didn't.
