Not sure not signing her is a great move if you want to keep her engaged with the team. Who's doing her rehab? Who's paying for it, SC?

But I'm sure the Sky know what they're doing Wink

The four posts in the beginning will be Boyette, Dolson, Breland & Parker. They keep either Harris or Hampton as that possible 5th post to fill the roster until Coates is ready. I think Epps stands a better chance to make the roster than Jankoska, Cooper and Harris or Hampton.

PG: Vandersloot/Faulkner
SG: Pondexter/Quigley/Epps
SF: Young/Copper
PF: Dolson/Breland/Harris or Hampton
C: Boyette/Parker
IR: Coates
SP: Ndour

About that logjam now...

(Seriously, though, awful news, at the worst time.)

It happened before the draft.

Tanking is inevitable.

I hope.

Sad for Faulkner. Hope her recovery goes well

Team wise tho: they went from lottery team to even more of a lottery team.

I'm not convinced that Chicago even with the loss of Faulkner is any worse than SA, Dallas, Conn, Indy or Atl. I guess whenever there is a new coach there is a decent chance for a drop off, but SA and Indy also have a new coach, Conn has a 2nd year coach and Dallas many think should have a new coach so who knows?

Not so sure. There's plenty of potentially bad teams out there.

They lost Faulkner, not Pondexter or Vandersloot. Epps will just have a more pivotal role this season then expected.

Well considering Vandersloot is Hungarian now and on their roster for the EuroBasket tourney this summer, how much time is she going to miss? Epps or Tori ready to be the starting PG? Laughing

A lot depends on the new Coach (Coach/GM?). What if she is Trudy or Nolan 2.0? Or the next Stefanie White? Talent wise though I think the Sky have a a little better roster* than Indy or Atlanta (assuming Angel doesn't play this season.) Both Indy and Atlanta do have a known quantity coach.

The Sun and Stars may still be a lot weaker though. Both have, as yet, unproven coaches.

*Provided Sloot doesn't miss many games.

Question is - are there any tankworthy players coming up in the next two years? I'm not seeing a Sterwart, Griner, EDD or Parker out there. Plus - it has to be a two year tank because the Stars owned last year's loss column.

I'm pretty sure Sigur would do anything for either A'ja Wilson or Kelsey Mitchell in a Sky jersey next year. Smile

Wilson.... otherwise there's not the biggest need to tank. Good depth... broken record.

CHI is #9 on the waiver list. Hope for a Chong or Lindsay Allen cut?
But maybe Jankoska will shine with the pressure on.
ROY! ROY! ROY!

And this is why you make a trade when you have excess at one position and a void tp fill at another.Chicago should have traded Faulkner for a SF or top 5 draft pick.

The alternative argument is that this is precisely why you want an excess at key positions - so that when someone gets hurt you've still got talent there. If it was Sloot that got hurt instead of Faulkner, they'd be delighted that Faulkner was still on the roster to take over. The fact that they have Vandersloot is why it's not that devastating to lose Faulkner.

This would only be true in certain situations(e.g., championship contender,or team with no glaring weaknesses)...Chicago doesn't qualify....No team can forecast the future. Not making a trade because you fear someones going to get injured isn't the best way to run a franchise.Besides, trading Faulkner would've led to a search for a backup pg.

Chicago made some bone headed moves during the draft:
Drafting Coates > Gray,Coffey(needed a SG)
Drafting Jankosta > Davis(needed a SF)
Drafting Osahor > Chong(needed a backup pg with the possibility of Faulkner getting traded)

Just a total mismanagement of assets....

Of course.it's still too early to give chicago a final grade on the 2017 draft. We won't know the impact of Coates/Jankosta for another 3-5 years.

Any player #1 - #4 in next year's draft is probably worth tanking for. Wilson, DeShields, K. Mitchell, Gabby Williams.
