To me it's less about the drama and more about resting on her laurels. She's not driven to be all she could be.

I agree. The difference between DT, Maya and players like BG is a willingness to dominate.

Your role on the team your on has A LOT to do with that. DT is the alpha dog on Phoenix. She's going to be the one to take over until she's willing to relinquish that or retire. Griner may have it in her, but doesn't show it on this particular squad.

Really like the DRob trade. IMO, Merc just need one more shooter, as they only really have Taurasi at the moment.

This is a good pickup for Phoenix. FLB was clutch for us on more than one occasion.

I wasn't quite sure they were a championship contender. This move just sealed it.

Who would you rather have as your back up PG L. Mitchell or T. Bias?

Mitchell, 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Dont forget that DT will handle the ball aswell. So there will be opportunities for FLB to spot up

Likely roster:

PG: Danielle Robinson, Leilani Mitchell
SG: Diana Taurasi, Alex Harden (Talbot)
SF: DeWanna Bonner, Stephanie Talbot
PF: Candice Dupree, Kelsey Bone
C: Griner, George (Bone)

I expect the final roster will have two of the following three players:
Marta Xargay
Sonja Petrovic
Emma Cannon

I'd expect some fillers for the first half of the season until Xargay & Petrovic arrive, but after the All-Star break they should have:

PG: Robinson/Mitchell
SG: Taurasi/Xargay/Harden
SF: Bonner/Petrovic/Talbot
PF: Dupree/George
C: Griner/Bone

Xargay took PG duties from Mitchell before. I'm not sure why that would change two years later.

I think Mitchell will be a lot like Latta, a spot duty three point shooter.

PG: DANIELLE ROBINSON, LEILANI MITCHELL, Yvonne Turner
SG: DIANA TAURASI, Marta Xargay, Alex Harden
SF: DEWANNA BONNER, Sonja Petrovic, Shay Murphy, Stephanie Talbot
PF: CANDICE DUPREE, KELSEY BONE, Emma Cannon
C: BRITTNEY GRINER, CAYLA GEORGE

CAPITALIZED NAMES ARE LOCKS.

Final roster will have 11 or 12 players.

Xargay and Petrovic could arrive late.

Trades could still happen.

Tend to agree...not under contract or signed yet and may arrive late...hence, didn't include them just yet.

I'm guessing that if Talbot manages to make the opening night roster, the duration of her stay will be determined by the date of Petrovic's arrival (much like Tess Madgen's was determined by Xargay's arrival 2 years ago)

Euro Basketball in June. Spain and Serbia both qualified.

It only runs about 2 weeks if your team is doing well, I think. It all depends on how much prep time they think they need. In 2015, Xargay played 20 regular season games for PHX and started 8. In 2016, the Olympics year, she played 15 regular season games and started 6.

Oddly enough, Petrovic who plays for the Serbian national team has played in the WNBA nearly full seasons in her Olympics years. She played 30 games in 2012 for CHI and 31 games in 2016 for PHX. So I'm guessing if PHX signs Petrovic, she won't need to miss a lot of games.

If Murphy is back to 100%, she should get a spot over Talbot if Petrovic will be available. Then if Xargay returns, either Murphy or Harden gets waived. The down side is only having 4 posts, with one of them being George. I'm assuming someone else gets brought in for training camp purposes to challenge George. Bone also hasn't been re-signed, so I'm beginning to wonder if Phoenix plans to bring her back or possibly do a sign & trade?

True, they could come over and leave closer to the tournament. I assumed both teams would have camps and warm up/tune up games scheduled since their players are all coming off European seasons, but maybe not.

I remember absolutely hating Little when she played for the Storm, she was such a thorn in PHX's side. I'm going to miss Dupree a lot, but this trade greatly improves our defense and we don't lose a whole lot versatility wise.
