I think T. Mitchell will be starting at the 2 spot in the near future, maybe this season.

Good for her. Wonder what she will be doing?

My assumption is waiting to eventually take Kelly Krauskopf's job.

What has happened to your basementude?

Director of player programs and franchise development with Pacers Sports & Entertainment

Quote:
The new position calls on her to “aid with structure and implementation of player-development programs, player relations and community outreach. “

She is expected to work one-on-one with individual players on speaking and presentation skills, and on the development of athlete foundations or other business interests.

A longtime president of the WNBA player's association, Catchings also will assist in the planning and execution of player’s association meetings, and other team and player programming.

Could be meaningful that the job is with Pacers Sports and Entertainment, though. It's with the overarching organisation, not just the Fever. It'd be nice to see someone like Catch make progress on the front-office side in the game as a whole while people like Hammon are progressing on the coaching side.

Actually, it sounds like a really great job for her. Helping players present themselves to the public and the media is very important, and something she excelled at. Plus, working with Players Association issues could be very important over the long run.

Yay! Congrats to Catch, and good on the Pacers for scooping her up too in addition to the Fever.

Briann January returning to ASU as assistant coach, will play in the WNBA one more year and decide if she will continue playing!

Fitzgerald's stock just bumped up.

Quote:
January said she will take her playing career year by year depending largely on her health. "I want to be able to function when I'm older and have some legs after my career."

"We've been talking about this for a few years," Turner Thorne said. "She's always been interested about going into coaching. The timing couldn't be better for us to have this position. I'm so excited about what she is going to bring in terms of competitive spirit, great energy and her basketball IQ."

They could also hope for someone like Allen to the the waivers. Maybe even try to acquire Faulkner? If she keeps up her play from last season, she may want to look for a bigger role.

January is playing this year, and might consider not playing next year. Too early for the Fever to panic about replacing her.

Never to early to be prepared . Losing there top 2 players in a span of 2 to 3 years could be drastic for the franchise. Indy should go in to tank mode and shoot for 2018 or 2019 Draft picks.

No need to panic but it might give them incentive to keep 3 PG's if they happen to like mini-Bree

So I'm thinking Kelsey Plum to Indiana -- and then I look at the Fever roster.

The only player under 30 that would seem to have any value would be Tiffany Mitchell, who can't shoot (36.1% overall and 29.4% from three) and had more turnovers than assists.

No wonder Stephanie White jumped ship ...

I agree - Indiana is in terrible shape, but some how they always manage to at least be respectable. Of course, that was with Catchings.

My take on January's comment is "Core me and I retire." No reason she couldn't do both jobs. Latta has been doing that for a while and Herrington and Lehning did it while playing for the Dream. I'm betting there are others.

Dawn Staley was the head coach at Temple during her last six WNBA seasons.

I love how people take one year in the league (and her rookie year, mind you) and make a blanket statement like "[she] can't shoot".

Are you sure Latta is still doing both? I thought that lasted like one year.

I wouldn't write off Motley's chances of making the team quite so quickly.

My memory isn't perfect, but I thought I saw her sitting the bench in a NC game this year.

Not seeing her on the coaches list
http://www.goheels.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPID=12979&SPSID=667884

Misty Bass isn't trying to tackle both.

I wonder if January saw somebody like Nicole Powell who gave up playing to be an assistant at Oregon, and now she's worked her way up to head coach at GCU at a relatively young age for a head coach.

You must be remembering from 2015
