Everybody except Randy, it seems... Although, I'm not even sure that he hasn't written the season off, so much as he appears to have some kind of psychological need for the Dream to be good without Angel.
They're not, by the way.

They've really not been that bad. In fact the whole starting five seems to have had a decent season: Hayes is having the best statistical season of her career, even efficiency-wise, without Angel to draw defenders; Williams has basically carried on where she left off last year; lots of people are falling in love with Clarendon's development as a point guard (despite the dubious shooting); Sykes is emerging as a RotY candidate; and even Lyttle, while a diminishing presence, hasn't completely fallen off a cliff.
One way or another, I still expect them to finish somewhere around .500, and play at least one playoff game. Without the player who's seemingly carried them for years it's not been a bad season, all in all. |

We like Clarendon because the alternative is Ajavon, who has somehow added a new level of terrible to her game, or someone who was unemployed a week ago.
Holmes isn't putting up last year's numbers but isn't playing badly. Her defense has improved mightily.
Atlanta has a lot of interesting pieces.

Layshia is shooting 7-45 from 3. If she would just stop shooting 3's her two point FG% would be fine 91/198 - 46%. Since Sykes and Hayes are both shooting 3's in the 36-37% range, and we have Hooper (and since Dantas is going to shoot 3's no matter what), there is no need for Clarendon to be shooting 3's. It is interesting that as her assist numbers have doubled, her shooting has gone down, but mainly due to 3's.
As bad as Clarendon's 3 point shooting, Holmes is even worse: 7-46. With 3 legitimate 3 point threats we really don't need all of this long distance chuckery. But, I suppose it does a fine job of creating OBO's (Offensive Rebound Opportunities.) We may well lead the league in that category.

SF: Young/Holmes

Unless Boyette decides to spend full time writing poetry, I like this deal too. We can always trade for a late first round pick and find another steal of the draft. Unless we make another deal, draft night won't be much fun though.
Plus, myrtle has to love this one. Young is no longer a starter on the Sky.
I guess this does mean the Dream are in it for the playoffs, not the tank.

Interested in seeing what number Young will wear, the second go around.

When they've already got Hayes/Sykes/Holmes(/McCoughtry), Young seems pretty damn redundant; and unless they find a way to make Boyette/Williams work together, Boyette becomes a 10mpg backup. I don't really get it, and I think they have to love Boyette to make this move (and/or be absolutely desperate to make the playoffs right now). |

Huh. Don't know why I thought she wore #1 in Atlanta.

The Boyette from last season is well worth it. I hope that's the one we get.
If Young is not an expiring contract then there probably is some more trading to be done in the off-season.

BTW - 4 teams for Hooper in one season, only waived once. Must be some kind of record. She played ok for us, I thought.

She was #23 as a rookie then switched to #11 in her second season. Jia Perkins was wearing #11 for Chicago at the time, so Young switched to #1.

I'm happy with the trade, but I always wanted Hooper because she could hit the 3, but I guess that's just not enough.

I have little recollection of this. Did Delle Donne really bump Young off her number? That might enough to foster a degree of long term resentment.

I think Atlanta should do everything possible to add Hamby now. That would be perfect!

But myrtle you underestimate Coopers magic touch. We will have Boyette, Young and Hamby all in the running for most improved next year.
