so any word on EDD or Hill?

Both players are currently listed as questionable, but based on the early line (Washington favored by 2.5), it seems that the odds makers think EDD will play. I doubt Hill will play.

Tayler Hill, ACL, out for the season.

Lineup without Hill or EDD:

KTO
Cloud
TRP
Emma
K.Thomas

Bench

Latta
THawk
A.Taylor
SWK
J.Simms

I hope Cloud is ready to play a LOT of minutes and Asia Taylor comes ready to play. I predict J.Simms gets some minutes.

You cannot start KTO/Latta as two tinies together is too much of a defensive liability. Cloud is a key player in the Styx competing for third in the final standings. Also looking for SWK or J.Simms to step up. I expect EDD won't be out long.

Considering how little SWK, Simms & Taylor are used, I doubt they apply for an injury exemption. I see Taylor getting some solid minutes backing up Emma until EDD comes back. Cloud starts at PG. SWK could see some time at SF.

Singing...

Delle Donne, Delle Donne
Super baller with Nikes on
Puts the ball in the hoop
Throws opponents for a loop
Look out! Her comes the Delle Donne
Is she good? Listen bud
She's got basketball in her blood
She can shoot from the arc
Better than any Spark
Hey there
There goes the Delle Donne
In Washington
On the night of the game
She'll have her fun
Sending foes home in shame
Delle Donne, Delle Donne
Mystics superstar Delle Donne
Shoots the rock, grabs the board
MVP is her reward
To her, life is a game of pick up
She'll never put a brick up
Elena Delle Donne

I'm just surprised that pilight's lyrics didn't have any reference to EDD being so good that she even gets points when the ball doesn't go through the basket...

2017 Draft Pick, Guard Jennie Simms Waived

http://mystics.wnba.com/news/2017-draft-pick-guard-jennie-simms-waived/

I wanted to bring this out of the game thread.

No details on why this was done. They are down to 11 on the roster with 10 being active.

They have to pay for Simms for the rest of the year, so some big signing must be on the horizon???

Isn't it 9 active with Hill and Cloud both out?

There must be a signing coming soon. Big? I doubt it. It's Coach T so it may be an international player. What guards are available?

doesn't make sense to waive Simms now since she's still going to get paid for the full season. Especially with Cloud & Hill out. This means they'll only have 9 players for tonight's game vs. Connecticut. I guess they'll start Toliver-Latta-Delle Donne-Meesseman-Thomas with SWK, TRP, Taylor & Hawkins off the bench.

Simms didn't get a chance in DC. Ruth Riley has made odd moves in SAS so for some reason Im expecting something between Styx and SAS.

The same supposed deal as before the draft, SWK & 2018 first round pick for Plum?

But you didn't have to cut Simms to make that deal. Plum replaces SWK roster #s and money are unaffected.

My guess a vet guard or wing gets signed for the rest of the season. No one monumental just someone who can be brought up to speed quickly and who can be relied on for 10-15 minutes a night. Something similar to the Gruda signing in LA.

My guess Faris or Lawson. (I'm glad NY cored T Wright because she would be perfect) Or maybe Hightower if she is healthy.

Oh crafty.... wasn't it Thibault who drafted her for Connecticut?

Kinda anticlimactic. Was anticipating a big Cappie trade.

Was she subtweeting Simms? I guess it could be about something more personal.

Shades - I get the same numbers as you based on what is shown. However, that is just the total number of wins for EDD's team with and with out her. What is not shown is losses for those teams during those periods.

To use a simple example, assume Player x played in all of Team Y games except 2. They won 30 of the 32 games with her and lost one of the games without her. So with her in the lineup the win % is 30/32 or .9375; and without her they were 1/2 or .5. But with her in the lineup they won 30/31 (or .968) of the team's wins.

The .625 and .412 are the winning percentages in games played with and without Delle Donne, not just the percentages of games she was available for.

I just got off an elevator at my hotel in Indy and it was full of Mystics players along with Coach Thiabult. After the players got off, I was talking to coach and he mentioned the injuries. I asked him about EDD and when she might return and he said he was hoping for next Friday. That sounded like pretty good news in her recuperation from injuries.

The Mystics are playing Indiana today, so no need to rush her into this game. New York's game on Friday could determine who gets the #4 seed, so they'll definitely need her then.
