Well I guess it's true that the 7-21 she's shot in preseason is better than she's managed in WNBA runs in the past. But it sure as hell still isn't good.

That's the very same phrase that came to my mind when I read that line.

But I still laughed. Razz

I laughed to but its seriously becoming impossible to root for anyone whos not the crowd favorite on this board. 7-21 7-3000 either way shes been impressive . Players cannot be great on this board its annoying asf

Any updates on Jefferson? She missed game 3 of the semi-finals in Turkey.

Glad she'll have a few days to work with her brand spanking new backcourt mate. Will be interesting to watch MoJeff, KPlum and KMcBride get used to each other. After all, the success of the season is in their hands.

SA is really hard to figure out

Jefferson
Plum/Currie/Holmes or Montgomery
McBride/Coffey(eventually)/Peters
Harrison/Hamby/Dos Santos
Alexander/De Souza

am I missing someone who could actually make it?

I'm trying not to take Holmes seriously, but they do seem thin at the first two guard slots if you're wanting to play McBride at SF. I would have slotted Gwathmey as a SG.

There, I did it. Now the Plum-Crazies can join Plum's agent in cursing me out for even considering using Plum as a backup. McCoughty was a #1 pick who started out as a backup. Only example I could come up with.

Yep, pretty much ready to go, unless Chicago or another team waives a good one.

If the success of the season truly rests on Kelsey Plum, San Antonio can start printing A'Ja Wilson's jersey today.

Has the coach actually said anything to indicate McBride is moving back to SF, or that McBride, Jefferson and Plum are going to start together? I wondered where that apparent assumption from several posters in this thread comes from.

I think it comes from the theory that the best players should start. It makes very little sense to sit any of them in favor of anyone else on the team.

Having Plum come off the bench I think would benefit the team better. have her backup both PG & SG. Coffey can be that flex 3/4 for the Stars. I think Holmes > Montgomery, so I'd have:

PG: Jefferson/Colson
SG: McBride/Plum/Holmes
SF: Currie/Coffey
PF: Harrison/dos Santos/Hamby
C: Alexander/deSouza

By that theory a team should start five guards or five posts if they happen to be the five "best players".

Sorry, but size and position also have to matter.

They've been down that road with McBride at the 3 before. She's tough and a good rebounder, and about as good at it as one could expect from a 5'11" guard, but it is not a route to a successful season. Her position is at the 2, and moving her just to make room for another short guard makes little sense.

I'm anxious to see how all three will co-exist. Fortunately none of them have appeared to be high maintenance players.

At least one of them appears to have a high-maintenance agent who sought to intimidate the SAN front office.

I will be really surprised if VJ opens the season with Plum on the bench. I think McBride can play the SF position better than anyone else on the team. If Plum, McBride, and Jefferson learn to play together SAS will have a very potent offense especially if Harrison, Hamby, and de Souza can put up some points. I am betting that SAS will make the playoffs.

McBride'll be in Turkey when the season starts, so initially at least the decision is made for them. If it works out, maybe they just stick with that, and McBride gets to make a run at 6thWotY. Sometimes these decisions get made almost inadvertently. Agler wasn't totally sure about his lineup at the start of last season, but the five worked out so well that he stuck with it and they won a title.

San Antonio will probably lose enough games that they'll try a bunch of different lineups to change things up. Plus injuries will inevitably affect things.

SAS has waived Day and Hodges and traded Gwathmey to the Fever for a 3rd round draft pick next year.
