Someone who is rarely seen and commits unbelievable feats when she is? Sounds pretty legendary to me. Wink

Wings Lose CEO Mary O’Connor

https://www.dmagazine.com/business-economy/2017/04/wnba-team-dallas-wings-loses-ceo-mary-oconnor/

Quote:
O’Connor was appointed president and CEO in July of last year, one year after the team, formerly known as the Tulsa Shock, relocated to Dallas. Since departing from the Wings, O’Connor has apparently launched her own firm called O’Connor & Advisors LLC this month, according to her LinkedIn page.

My guess is that Dallas hasn't been lining up as many sponsors and advertisers as the owner expected to get. Odd that she started last July.

In Tulsa, the President became the acting GM when the coach/GM was fired, and now in Dallas, the GM has become the acting President and CEO.

Edit: I found an article that says she predicted sell-outs by the end of the 2nd or 3rd seasons, so season ticket sales could also be lagging beyond what the owner wants and expects.

DFW is a huge metroplex. He should be able to find a suitable replacement in a relatively short time.

Last night on Twitter, the sports editor for WFAA indicated that they don't cover the Wings b/c no one has ever expressed interest and they've gotten "zero emails" about it. Rolling Eyes In case anyone wants to correct that impression,

Silly question maybe but does it matter if you're in DFW or not?

This was posted in the College section:

I grew up in Dallas. It's a lovely city, and the people are very nice. BUT it is
1.) not a tourist town. They don't make their money that way. They aren't accustomed to thinking about how to be welcoming and appealing and fun.
and 2.) not, not, not a basketball town. Dallasites care so little about basketball, I don't how the Mavs sell tickets. Certainly, they don't give a flip about college basketball.

Im Not going to lie i was almost retiring from the board when i saw Ahkator at 3. But When we Got Gray & Davis the world kind of settled a bit. Evelyn actually would fit with this team . She reminds me somewhat of a mini Glory Johnson. We also got Bre Lewis & The Husky Saniya Chong. Id honestly take Chong over Bias but she just got resigned so that seems irrelevant unfortunately

Diggins/Phillips
Christmas/Gray
Powers/Davis
Johnson/Akhator/Plaisance
Paris/Hamblin

is the last spot one of Bias or Chong, or Hooper or Lewis?

I think the Wings look a lot better after the draft, still think they could use an upgrade over their bench bigs

Hamblin vs Lewis might be a good battle

Comment sent, thank you for the link. I had an accident just before the season started last year and was not able to attend any games. The Wings play less than 5 minutes from my house and I am looking forward to going to several games this year and being an STH by next year. Would like to see coverage of them on the news and in the Dallas & Fort Worth newspapers. The Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is a great supporter of their sports teams, they need to get on board with the Wings!

Chong < Bias but i doubt she gets cut when shes resigned .
Hooper is the only reliable shooter on this roster id hate to see her go. Shes defintely a fan favorite here in dallas #HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPERRRRRRRR

Does anyone here think last nights picks were Freds Idea or Bibb ? Based off how #3 went down i started to believe This was all bibb's work . The last 2 picks of Gray & Davis were pretty easy to make seeing as though they just played there final 2 games here in the wings backyard . But i do believe a bit more research and preparation should have been put into these picks. I think Bibb assumed coates was going to be on the board at 3 still and might have been shocked to see her taken @ 2 . So with time running down the default pick had to be Evelyn , I like her more so than McCall and once again B. jones is another version of Courtney Paris so who else would be left to choose from ? Evelyn ! Notably she most likely would have been there at 10 though as others have pointed out or Maybe Not ?

That means Lewis is probably in, and Hamblin being marginal at the WNBA level, is probably history

Hamblin missing this season nearly makes Lewis a lock for back-up center.

There might be an OK big falling off the SA (Baugh, Bulgak, Nunn) or Indy (Graves, McCall) rosters or Seattle (Montgomery, Greene).
