just tragic. the pictures were horrendous. I can only hope that the majority of people who died did so in their sleep of smoke inhalation.

It'll be interesting to see if the building/renovation does meet fire safety standards, or alternately all required safety standards. Because if it does, then I expect there to be an impact on building regulations.

In buildings like this each unit is supposed to be an individual "fire box", meaning a typical house fire starting in a single unit should burn itself out without spreading to neighboring units.

Really, really tragic.
