You can remove James Harden from the list.
Starting to wonder who will be the favorite for the gold medal.

Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler accept Team USA invite
Quote: |
Add Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler to the list of players who have committed to representing the United States at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Anthony, who has a chance to become the first men's basketball player to win three Olympic gold medals, will be making the trip to Rio, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday after it was first reported by The Vertical. He won gold with the U.S. in 2008 and 2012, and he also won a bronze medal in 2004. |

Chris Paul and LeBron James also won gold medals with Anthony in 2008 and 2012. James told various reporters at the Cavs' championship parade that he's leaning toward not playing in the Olympics after a long season. Paul will not play, opting instead to rest this summer.
Kevin Durant confirmed earlier this week that he would play in Rio, while sources have told The Undefeated that Paul George, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins also will play for the U.S.
Souces told ESPN that Team USA remains hopeful that Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson will ultimately accept their Olympic invites after long playoff runs.
Damian Lillard will not be making the trip to Rio, The Vertical reported Thursday, as the Portland Trail Blazers guard continues to rehab his plantar fasciitis injury.
All were among the 31 finalists named for the 2016 U.S. Olympic team in January. |

*just found out Leonard has also withdrawn. This should be the final 12.
*Thompson just confirmed he's on the team. However, DeRozan has also confirmed he's on the team. I wonder how out of Irving, Love, Green & Howard are backing out. The team is rather guard heavy if Irving is also on the team.

Irving, Barnes final players to accept Team USA invite for Rio games. Love opts to sit out. No word on why Howard isn't on the list.

PG: Irving/Lowry
SG: Thompson/Butler/DeRozan
SF: Anthony/George
PF: Durant/Green/Barnes
C: Jordan/Cousins
starting Durant at PF just to balance out the guards. Or does Anthony start at SG, Durant at SF & Green at PF?

still confused about Barnes. And no reason why Howard isn't on the team.

Coach K liked playing Anthony and James together at the PG positions. I think Green, with his playmaking ability, should definitely start, with Durant at SF.
But can Anthony handle being a bench player? My guess is yes.

Who's going to be the leader(s) that drive this team? Who's going to be the heart and soul... (wait, I guess Draymond call fill that role if his teammates allow). Team USA looks the most vulnerable it has since before the first Dream Team. International baller/athletes are catching up to the US. Competition will be a lot stiffer than in years past. Can these guys come together and do what's necessary to win? |
