Connecticut below Atlanta?? I know they're young, but whoever put this list together, did they even bother looking at Atlanta's roster?

I'd say:

2. Minnesota Lynx
3. Chicago Sky
4. New York Liberty
5. Los Angeles Sparks
6. Dallas Wings
7. Indiana Fever
8. Connecticut Sun
9. Seattle Storm
10. Washington Mystics

I watched Connecticut for two straight days. Being ranked 8th is way, way too low. I would rank them at least 5th. I think they have a solid team.

I like these best. NY is too high but otherwise this looks about right. I think Chicago and LA could fight for that #3 spot. Indiana could finish anywhere from 4 to 8, so I like 6 as a guess. And the bottom three seem pretty set.

I'm willing to be surprised though!

Connecticut's backcourt might be the worst in the league, Ogwumike's knee is an unknown, and they have a first time pro head coach. I don't know why there's so much optimism around them.

I think it will be interesting how it truly plays out with the new schedule. East coast teams will not play each other as much and west coast teams will play the east more. Every game is going to count differently than it did in the past. The power rankings are basically how things will be staged for the playoffs.

Others have mentioned this and I'm not sure I follow, in the past while the playoffs were broken up by conference, the records used was the record for the entire season vs all teams, so why do games count differently now that the playoffs format has changed? I understand that looking at the standings is a little different because you can't just look at 6 teams in the conference when figuring out playoff positioning, but it's not like in the past east teams could look at west teams as less important games because those results don't play a part in whether or not they make the playoffs.

But why do you have Indy so high then. Their starting backcourt might be worse with January health unknown atm and we don't know how much Catchings has left. Will Coleman have another year like last season? I doubt it

Its different because of how often teams play each other. The west has long been thought of as the stronger conference with last year being an extreme difference (mainly because of the western stars that took time off , IMO) This year everyone will play each other three times, at least. I think it could change how things play out. I think it changes some of the dynamics of the rivalries as well.

I could be wrong but I am excited about the possibilities that are out there.

Indy was in the finals last year. Connecticut missed the playoffs.

I think 1 and 2 will win more than 26 games.

3-9 are pretty much a tossup

10-12 - probably win single digits in games.

You just copied the Net Rating from the WNBA stats page, because no sane person would have San Antonio at #8 right now.

So, Phoenix loses all their games, including being beaten by Seattle in their own house, and somehow Seattle is 2 places below them? Confused
Seattle pushed the Lynx pretty hard too. Whereas the Lynx just pushed Phoenix to the floor and trampled all over us.
(plus, what SpaceJunkie said) (plus other stuff...)

Seattle losing by 30 points in LA skews their overall net rating a lot. Very Happy

I'm guessing you didn't predict Layshia Clarendon to be a front-runner for MVP either (I didn't). Smile

I ran three different statistical models and San Antonio came out #8 in all three. I picked the one I thought looked best, which happens to match WNBA.com.

1/1/1 Los Angeles
2/2/2 Minnesota
3/4/3 Dallas
4/3/4 New York
5/5/5 Atlanta
6/6/6 Indiana
7/7/7 Chicago
8/8/8 San Antonio
10/9/9 Phoenix
9/12/10 Connecticut
11/10/11 Washington
12/11/12 Seattle
