So has a name been announced for Chicago's team?
Can they use the Fire name and logo? That would be nice!

Chicago Fire invokes the big fire there, the O'Leary's cow, etc...not a good omen.

They seem to be into that for some reason though. Chicago Blaze, UIC Flames...

Yeah, go figure lol...at least the league could claim they're "relocating" a team if they were to choose the name "Fire".

And then give the Chicago team the rights to all the former Fire players including DeMya Walker, Alisa Burras, and Ukari Figgs!!! haha Right.

Well, I wouldn't know how to go about that...technically, the dispersal draft took care of distributing the players from the folding franchises. Only the Sol and the Fire disappeared, with the Starzz and the Miracle getting a new home. So I maintain my position that you should keep out of a franchise's name any reference to it lol...although it worked for the Merc and the Sun.

but they would need a loud, very talkative, sometimes grating coach to fill the name. Any ideas?

That's exactly the name I suggested and I think it represents The Windy City well, doesn't it?
Plus, every other team has a thing for a weather channel name, so why not...

Yeah, but ours is named after the casino, not the big Sun!

And the Casino is named after what exactly???
Come on, DTS, buy into it, after all you're half of the Weather Channel classic.
Needless to say I still think the Liberty has the best name, especially because it didn't try to have a name likened to their NBA counterpart. But then again, what's a female knickerbocker???

thanks for remembering, stever! yeah, i'm glomming onto "the blues." i like the wind concept, because nothing says chi-town like the wind. the bulls took the stockyard concept. i was looking for something slightly different from wind, like gales or cyclones. but blues sounds kinda cool.

I don't know about the Wind. If they're a pressing team, and the other team gets through it are they breaking wind? Laughing

What an odd shaped arena; no seats on one baseline it looks like? And only 7,500 capacity? Makes our arena look small, not that a small arena is a bad thing. I love the Mohegan arena!

Like I said before - if the Indy's attendance doesn't improve the team will be called the Chicago Fever.

Female knickerbockers would probably be bloomers, which actually did a lot to advance women's athletics...I prefer the Liberty.

Just as Atlanta had the Flames, Chicago is probably looking to use some sort of fire name; MLS already has the Chicago Fire though. I do fear that they will turn to some wind-related name; women's athletics has enough of a battle for respect without a team named the Blowers.

Satan (impatiently) to New Comer. The trouble with you Chicago people is, that you think you are the best people down here; whereas you are merely the most numerous. --Mark Twain

Blaze has been done to death, although if they did that, New York could trade them a general manager and Connecticut could trade them a mascot. Wink

The Twain quote gave me a vagrant thought: the Chicago Hellions? Twisted Evil

Well if Carol makes Commish, "The Chicago Blaze" looks like a great way to kiss up some favors for the new team... Razz

Female Knickerbocker? The Chicago Bodysuits maybe Question
