If the limit is 15, what do the other 5 or 6 players do? Can they sit in the stands and watch? Have to stay home and watch TV? Have to be at least 20 miles out of town until they are called in?

I would just have them practice anyway and dare the league to do something about it

Is there some supposed rationale for this 15-player limit? I don't get it.

I assume (perhaps I'm wrong) that you can only use 12 players named in advance in any exhibition game. Beyond that, what's the point of any restriction? Is it thought that some team with a bigger budget will have an advantage if they have 19 people simultaneously working out during training camp when another team can only afford 15? This seems trivial to me. The vast majority of these extra players won't even make the 12-player roster, much less become rotation players.

More to the point, who is serving as the roster police? I doubt the league is sending people to each training camp to enforce the rule.

Isn't there a rule that says if a player is injured in camp, they get paid until they are ready to play (or the rest of the season)? If so, it seems crazy that teams always invite so many players that have zero chance of making the team. Question

Old rule that doesn't exist any more. They dumped it precisely because teams stopped inviting players to camp because of the risk that it'd cost them money (and go on the cap).

Teams can have 15 in camp and play 15 in any preseason game.
As for injury, If player on training camp make do gets hurt, its a cash issue not a cap hit. If a vet gets hurt, its a cap hit.

Many thanks for this information. If you have any comment you're willing to share about the rationale for the 15-player limit for training camp, I'd be very curious to hear it.
