Dayton hires Shauna Green as new HC following Jabir's resignation.

She spent last season as an assistant at Northwestern, but before that, she was Jabir's assistant at Dayton. She's only 36, so a young addition to the HC ranks. I hope she turns out to be a rising star! Very Happy

Ashley Perez remains with James Madison basketball as Assistant DOBO. We love our "Ash Money"!

Well, looks like I have a CAA team on a longer-term basis after all.

I am bummed to hear this. It seemed she was one of the bright, up and coming coaches.

This leads me to another subject, which may call for a separate thread, but it's interesting all these Stanford players calling it "quits" on basketball careers, or related careers, rather prematurely? From Candice Wiggins to Jayne Appel to now Azzi. Also, maybe Pedersen? Just seems like these guys had so much more in them, but realized the bigger picture? Very very interesting recent podcast by Candice Wiggins on basically her disgust in the WNBA. Again, probably not for this thread but this got me thinking ...

My guess is that Azzi is looking for other coaching opportunities, either in bigger conferences or the WNBA.

Candice previously wrote about her injuries and no longer loving basketball. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/candice-wiggins-liberty-wnba-retirement/ That Stanford degree may be opening other, more attractive and lucrative doors for all of them.

The WNBA would likely be a less grueling schedule if she's expecting a child this year.

Speaking with Azzi she said she will not coach college again. Idea

Well, now that San Antonio Stars coach Dan Hughes is retiring after this season...you think, maybe Jennifer Azzi will go for the Stars' position? (Even though Ruth Riley is now the team's GM?)

So all those kids who signed with USF, for this year, next year, and in the last couple years, now no longer are playing for the coach they signed with.

The NCAA can imagine and pretend that players dont sign with a coach, but with the school, but we all know thats not true. So all of these players now dont get the experience they signed up for and yet they have to sit out a year if they decide to transfer.

When a coach leaves, players should be able to transfer and be eligible immediately.

This happens on a fairly frequent basis, and I sort of agree with you. It kind of depends on who the new coach is, though. For instance, JMU did a pretty much "pretend" search after Kenny Brooks went to VA Tech and after much secrecy promoted assistant coach Sean O'Regan, so there wasn't really any change after all. The only "recruit" we lost was Coach Brooks' daughter, and she'd have redshirted anyway, by all reports...as I believe she's doing at Tech. OTOH, if there's a radical change, I think the players should be allowed to transfer immediately if they wish. Maybe they should sit out a semester just to get familiar with the new school, but making them sit out an entire year is punishing them for transferring, IMNSHO. And no school should *ever* be allowed to hold a player hostage the way KSU did Leticia Romero. That was criminal.

What constitutes a "radical" change?

I would think when you get someone not in the previous staff.
