I imagine the successful WCC coaches may get calls from Arizona and Colorado.
Specifically, Azzi from U. San Francisco and Fisher from San Diego would be my targets if I were those ADs.

Tough when your school moves from Division II to division I. Sounds like she only coached in the period after the jump.

Lappe had three years left on her contract, which they are going to honor. She had to deal with a move to the Pac-12 after her first year. She had an above .500 record for all games, but her record got worse after a peak of 25-7 and 13-5 in the Pac-12 in 2012-2013.

I really like Linda Lappe as a person. I wish shed had more success on the court, because Im not sure there will be a coach who will care more about the Buffs. I thought she would get one more year, but understand the decision. This years team was incredibly young with a solid freshman class. One of the freshmen was injured/out in since preseason and there is a transfer from Louisville ready to suit up this fall. Shes a great person, but the past couple years were certainly disappointing. Roberson taking her grad year to West Virginia really hurt on having experienced talent and leadership on the court.
Im not sure where they look for a coach.
Ryun Williams has done an amazing job at Colorado State, but thats mostly been built on international students. Im not sure how well that recruiting strategy would translate to the Pac 12.
Deb Patterson is up the road in Greeley as an assistant at Northern Colorado. She had a fair amount of success at Kansas State, but not sure if shell be returning to a head coach role as she might be happy staying with Kamie up there.
Jenny Huth (former Roulier) has been at UCLA as an assistant the past five seasons and helped bring in some monster recruiting classes, which is something Linda seemed to struggle with. She also spent a few years with Florida State. Shes a Colorado alum. I dont think the AD will be game because he just fired her former teammate and might want more his own stamp than Ceal Barrys. Ceal still works in the CU athletic department, and survived there longer than the two head coaches brought in since she retired which she did with the hope of reviving the program. Im sure she is one of the most disappointed to see Lindas tenure didnt pan out. I dont expect Jenny to get the position, but it wouldnt hurt to call.
Other head coaches I would talk to are Amy Williams at South Dakota or Jonathan Tsipis at George Washington.

I expect Tsipis will have plenty of opportunities and can afford to be picky. He was born in Cleveland but grew up in Durham and graduated from UNC. All of his jobs have been East of the Mississippi.
I'd be surprised to see to see him head West were he has no recruiting footing. And I think he can get a better job at a more successful program than Colorado. I would not be surprised to see him end up at Duke or UNC when those jobs likely open up in the next couple of years.
Except for being male (which seems to be a disqualifier some places) I would expect him to be on the list for most major job openings in the next couple of years.

| I don't think Ryun Williams is going anywhere, he has a $1.075 million buyout! Have not seen that in women's basketball, but this is the same school that had a $7 million buyout for their football coach, and Florida hired him anyways. Clearly no one in WBB is going to pay $1 million for a buyout, or at least I'd be shocked if they did.

They had a decent string starting in 1994, with Joanie O'Brien. Won, 19, 20, 18 and 19 games over the next 4 years.

The buyout is, I believe, declining based on years remaining. I think it's down to $600,000 or so, which probably doesn't change the calculous all that much.

Hey Clay, why Arizona and not Colorado? Azzi is a converted Bay Area homer these days, but I could see her more in Boulder. She adopted Salt Lake City (weak comparison, but another mountain western city) a bit when she was in the WNBA and it might be nice for her. Restore tradition at a once strong program.
Or will she stay at USF and build a longer term WCC power until the Stanford job opens up?
If Harlick doesn't work out at Tennessee, could her eyes be on going back to her original home in Knoxville if the Lady Vols came after her hard?

I see Jen staying at USF for awhile.....but I could be wrong. And I kind of doubt she'd come back to TN, ever. She left there for Stanford *specifically* to avoid people's expectations. I doubt she'd go back, probably for the same reason. She might not want to go back to Stanford either for that reason, although I could be wrong about that. Maybe she has an idea about building USF into a latter-day power, who knows? Anything can happen these days.

He's 51 next month, but played six years in the NFL and made several million dollars.

In my NSHO, this is a plum job. Relatively new practice facilities. A solid history (I know, not in recent years) in women's basketball with good attendance. A beautiful city (Boulder) with more sunny days on average than San Diego (it's true). A beautiful campus with a solid academic reputation. If those of you on the coasts think it's in the middle of nowhere, it is 45 minutes from Denver International Airport, making it accessible from all over the US with one or two flights.
CU's two post Ceal Barry hires haven't worked - which perhaps has lead to the athletic department deciding to hire a search firm to help rather then just going it alone as they have previously.
