So, Sue Bird, tear it down, we will not. And while one humble reporter can’t compensate for the torrent of attempted takedowns by the trolls, we will add one voice determined to emphasize the positive and present five reasons why the WNBA is better than the NBA. |

For the most part, I think overall it's a good article with some good points. I do take umbrage with the Allen Iverson diss. First, that statement was a snippet, a soundbite about a larger issue that was taken out of context. Secondly, each player in either league is competing against humongous numbers to not only get their job, but to keep it. Very few, men or women are stupid enough not to take practice seriously. |

This mostly excellent article has one very unfortunate distortion. A distortion that should not be highlighted uncritically in the quote used above. In her comments used in this article, Sue Bird did NOT "tear down" the WNBA. Far from it. She was speaking in support of the league and of how LeBron James and other male Olympic basketball players respect the WNBA.

Saying the NBA is more successful then the WNBA. fact. Saying one is better? Well, better is a relative term. I like mustard better then ketchup, the next person may feel otherwise.

I didn't say the NBA was better though. I agree with what you're saying, actually. It's the article that starts a "better" debate by saying the W is better than the NBA.

More accurate titles for the article would be: "Why I like the WBA better than the NBA." Or "Ways the WNBA is Better than the NBA". These aren't exactly catchy titles so I give the author journalistic license on that.
The points that the author makes do reflect, however, some of the attributes that I and the other WNBA fans find attractive.
I would add one more plus for the WNBA: The sense of community among the fans is much stronger than in the NBA in my experience. At least here in LA.
I have season tickets to the Sparks and I attend 5 to 10 Clipper games each year. I like both leagues.

They missed a big one: the actual affordability of good seats.

exactly. Liberty seats start at $15 for some games. I usually pay $40 to sit in sections 107/108. Any Knicks games I go to cost me $50-$100 to sit in the back rows of the 200s.
