Peter Vecsey: Isiah Set to Trade Steph
Quote: |
Peter Vecsey of THE NEW YORK POST reports, “Isiah Thomas had to know importing Larry Brown to become the Knicks' latest savior would ultimately lead to Stephon Marbury's deportation. Even Isiah Lord Thomas can only cater and curtsy to one franchise person at a time. Stephon had his way and sway for 11/2 seasons. Now Larry has all the juice. This isn't Detroit, where Joe Dumars "fairly effectively" handles the affairs of the Pistons' front office (along with John Hammond) and isn't really all that interested what personnel his coaching staff would prefer to manage. This is New York, where Thomas brought in Brown to save his job and might wind up taking it.” |

Larry Browns response:
Brown Defends Trade-Bait Steph
Quote: |
Marc Berman of THE NEW YORK POST reports, “Larry Brown came to Stephon Marbury's defense after yesterday's Post exclusive saying the Knick point guard is on the trading block. While not denying that trade talks have gone on, Brown said deals were not the answer to their 0-5 start after last night's 86-84 loss to Golden State. Brown even cracked, "If anything needs to be done, maybe they need to find a new coach.” |

Geez, its absolutely hilarious just how predictable Larry Brown is. Is he already angling to get out of New York? I doubt it...but with Larry Brown, you never really know... |

Vescey jumped the gun and all the NY media goons salivated. The Knicks just put it out there that for the right price he can be had. That's been out there since last year.
The difference is, Vescey made it seem like Larry and Isiah were ready to do a deal immediately. In reality, unless a team is giving up a frachise player or some picks and expiring contracts, the Knicks aren't looking to deal him. And that type of market does not exist for Steph at this point.
Steph isn't going to be traded. He definitely won't be traded if he continues to have games like last night's where Brown finally moved him off the ball.
There a good possibility the team will make a trade within the next couple of weeks but it won't be Steph. Either Hardaway and a pick for Jalen Rose or Hardaway, Malik Rose and a pick for a point guard or small forward. Crawford, Rose, Hardaway, and Robinson are more likely to be gone by the deadline than Steph.
For every 3 real rumors Vescey has, he pulls one out of his ass every now and then. He's been that way for years. Frank Isola runs behind him a day late and a dollar short. The Post and Daily News are tabloids fronting like real newspapers anyway.
