The Sun coaching and medical staffs will be taking a conservative approach with Ogwumike but the former Stanford star is eager to hit the ground running.

"I feel good. Every day it gets better and better," Ogwumike said after Monday's practice. "I feel strong, it is a matter of maintaining it the whole season.

"I think I am lighter than I was last year. I feel stronger and leaner, I eat better, sleep better."

"I like the pace that Chiney plays with," Miller said. "Nneka is incredibly explosive but at times will play too fast. I enjoy the pace that Chiney plays at, she is not as explosive as Nneka but in day one she seemed to play at a pace that would allow her to be successful."

I like Miller more and more. Not afraid of giving an honest evaluation. Refreshing!

Who's playing in Brazil? Shocked

They're more likely to be right. I'm just regurgitating what I read.

I don't think Butler will get cut first if at all. I say O'Neil gets cut first

why would the Sun need Lacy?? They seem stocked enough with PFs.

PG: JThomas/Banham
SG: Bentley/Weisner
SF: AThomas/Stricklen
PF: Ogwumike/Little/Tuck
C: Bone/Jones/Henry

I think they go with 2 centers and roll guard heavy. I just have a feeling....also I think somebody may get traded.

Maybe until Little/Henry return from overseas? She seemed to work out pretty well for them last year---could provide a little vet leadership/3-point range until the others return.

Rookies Jonquel Jones & Aliyyah Handford looking to break through for Sun

Quote:
Today, rookies Jonquel Jones and Aliyyah Handford met the Connecticut media for the first time, as the Connecticut Sun held media day.

Seated side by side, the two rookies seemed very at ease, comfortable in their new surroundings. Both, however, expressed feelings of reservation and nervousness as they adapt to new routines and the rigors of the pro game and pro life.

www.sun.wnba.com/news/wnbas-connecticut-sun-reaches-agreement-fox-61-wcct-televise-seven-games/

Quote:
The WNBA’s Connecticut Sun announced today it will partner with Fox 61 and WCCT-TV, Tribune Broadcasting’s Hartford station, which will broadcast seven road games in 2016.

The first broadcast will be from Seattle on May 28th at 10 p.m. ET.

“We are really happy to announce this new deal with Fox 61 and WCCT-TV,” Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. “We have a very loyal fan-base that has made it clear they would like to keep up with our team on the road. This broadcast schedule will make that possible.”

Always good to hear the girls themselves. Funny about the physicality. I think they always know it is coming, but until they experience it firsthand, it's hard to really understand.

Have there been any open practices? Curious how Jones is looking? And Weisner?

Going to try to do a lot more audio than just podcasts with the new site.

No open practice yet, Miller is happy with everyone (of course), but he did say Jones is a work in practice. He said Weisner's the type of player you want on your team.

Did you mean "a work in progress"? For somebody as exuberant and positive as Miller is to say something like that about a player may confirm my biggest fear about her..... you may have Amber Harris. Smile

Yes, thank you. Work in progress. But she comes from a smaller school without a long-term background. Not surprising.

Dishin & Swishin with Kelsey Bone: Building on last year's success

Quote:
As intelligent and outspoken a player the WNBA has, Bone takes her role seriously, both with the team and in the community, and is not shy about expressing her opinion or concerned about rubbing people the wrong way. This week, for example, she pointed out on Twitter what she sees are politics impacting USA Basketball, despite her team's General Manager being on the player selection committee.

It was a pleasure catching up with Kelsey Bone at Connecticut Sun media day. Some of the topics we discussed include:

- The role of Little as a leader on the Sun, and her importance
- Adjusting to new teammates, entry passes and spacing
- Teaching the rookies the life of a professional, including the in-the-paint tutoring of rookie Jonquel Jones
- Her role models and players she emulates, from the NBA and the impact of the WNBA on her life from youth
- Where does the game go from here? Suggestions to grow the game

Well, fuck everything.

...I mean, I shouldn't have had high hopes when Mr. "I Want EVERYONE To Shoot Threes" drafted a player with, like, twelve career threes. But STILL.

Fuck everything.
