As of end of 9/02/15

East
NYL 36
IND 34
CHI 33
WAS 32
--------
ATL 31
CON 26

West
PHX 47
MIN 45
LAS 28
TUL 27
--------
SAN 23
SEA 21

Odds at #1
SEA 44.2%
SAN 27.6%
CON 17.8%
ATL 10.4%

The intriguing thing is ATL and SEA both could still make the playoffs, but SEA would be giving up as much as a 44.2% chance at #1. ATL would only give up a 10.4% chance at #1.

I'm already planning next season...the Sun lineup will be...

C Bone, E Williams
PF Chiney O, C Little
SF-Stewie, A Thomas
SG-Bentley, Hightower
PG-JThomas, C Gray

Then you have Stricklen, J Lacy as fill ins...

The last spot...could possibly be Faris, Pederson or Griffin or even a draft pick...but that is one loaded team..on paper!

If they don't land the #1 pick..... I'd offer up Alyssa Thomas and Alison Hightower along with our first round pick...The only other player I'd be wanting to throw in there that has enough trade bait would be Chelsea Gray and that would leave the back up PG bleak...

I don't see Stewie's ball handling or 3 point shooting strong enough to be a wing, but I'm sure if she works hard anything can happen.

I'm not sure she's going to be physically strong enough yet to battle the big as a four .....

Alyssa Thomas can't shoot a 3 to save her life....and she's a 3...

I think Stewie will be most effective as a wing but I could be totally off base.

As a neutral, the important thing is that it reminded me to check the ESPN playoff schedule so that I can figure out when various players might be available overseas.

Here is my calculation of the chances for each team to get the No. 2 pick, and No.1 OR No. 2. Atlanta would be fine with either, but has only a about 25% chance of a happy outcome. This is based on current standings which look to be where things end up anyway.

No. 2 Pick No.1 or No. 2
ATL 14.45% 24.85%
SA 31.04% 58.64%
SEA 31.55% 75.75%
CT 22.95% 40.75%

I believe they will have equal chances at #1 in that instance.

Final game of the season is Stars v Storm. Be fun to see what would happen if the final game were to determine the lottery (though probably won't happen.) Very Happy

iirc, there is a tie-breaking mechanism (who lost the head-to-heads?) in place to determine who gets the #1 lottery spot.

feel free to correct me.

Ok, that is how it works in NBA
In the event that two teams have the same record, they both obtain the average number of selections between their two spots. If the average is not a whole number a random drawing determines who gets the additional combination
Probably, wnba has the same rule? Interesting to determine.

It would appear from this announcement that the first tiebreaker is the 2015 record, which means that SA would "win" if tied with Sea for 2 year worst record.

I was thinking the same thing. Look for Bird to get more "rest", but the danger to Seattle is that Minny decides to leave Maya, Brunson, and Syl on the bench just like LA did last night with Parker, Nneka, and Beard.

No one seems to notice, but MIN still has a little incentive to beat SEA. MIN is probably hoping SEA doesn't put up much of a fight so the bench would get heavy minutes anyway.

Clark is the unnoticed x factor. Just give her a toothache and Birdy a sprained thumb and they should have no problem losing to Minny's b team.
