Safarova-Serena Final.

If Serena plays like she did today, maiden grand slam to Safarova!

agreed. Bacsinszky simply seemed to give up in the third set. Serena looked completely wiped out.

Serena looked vulnerable after the first sets against Victoria Azarenka and Sloane Stephens too. She has been struggling with that flu/cold all tournament. She still rallied to take them down. At this point in her tennis career, Serena is showcasing incredible mental/physical efficiency and intelligence with her play.

Nevertheless, Safarova took out Maria and one of my favorites, Garbine Muguruza, so Serena will have to be very efficient again to get a win.

Gram Slam event #20 in the books with a chance to tie Steffi this year if she wins a calendar Grand Slam. Steffi's mark is the real target. It would be nice for her to catch and surpass Margaret Court's 24 slam wins, but those wins were almost entirely on a single surface.
