Germany 4 Sweden 1. Total beatdown!

It doesn't look good for the USA making the finals if they have to go through Germany. Shocked

It is pretty whack to have the top 3 teams, USA, Germany, France all on one side.

That's what sucks about the whole draw and the 3rd place team situations.

in the other match today, China barely gets by a tough Cameroon team 1-0. I'm hoping Cameroon can build from this, I liked their style of play.

TODAY'S RESULTS:
Australia 1 - Brazil 0
France 3 - South Korea 0
Canada 1 - Switzerland 0

hosts Canada progressed to the quarterfinals, after a 1-0 win over Switzerland. The crowd of 53,855 was the biggest EVER for any national team (men's or women's) of any sport in Canada.

Reminder that the USA plays their Round of 16 match tonight against Colombia at 7pm on FoxSports1. The other match today is Norway vs. England at 5pm, also on FoxSports1.

USA wins!!! 2-0 vs. Colombia. Was a close match until Colombia's GK got send off in the 47th minute forcing Colombia to play a (wo)man down the rest of the match. Colombia next looked the same after that.

The other match saw England come back and defeat Norway 2-1.

Cool Canada winning yesterday. Our goalkeeper had a nice few saves against Switzerland. Up next is England against us.

Had a chance to watch France and I was impressed with their offense.

So what's Aus chances against Japan just in case we beat England? Don't wanna go face the defending champs. All I want is a revenge against the U.S.

Australia's played some solid soccer this tournament outside of their match against the US. And Australia knows Japan very well, so it should be a close match, but Japan's been playing the best game of the tournament. I see Japan with the easiest route to the final.

The USA-COL match yesterday set a ratings record for FoxSports1 with 4.7 million viewers. With the rest of the USA matches all scheduled on FOX, I would imagine they'll break any records ESPN/ABC had.

Japan are deserved favourites against Australia, but we know them and are better now than when they beat us 1-0 in the Asian Cup final. Should be a fun game regardless of the result.

But I wouldn't be banking on the US making the final to get any revenge against. Honestly can't see them getting past either France or Germany (if they get past China) on their current form, but stranger things have happened.

In a fantastic quarterfinal match, Germany defeats France 1-1(5-4 PKs) to advance to the semis to take on the winner of the USA vs. CHN match. The USA vs. CHN match starts at 7:30pm EST on FOX tonight.

the USA defeated China tonight 1-0 with a much improved team USA. They really played their best soccer of the tournament tonight, especially on defense. Next up: Germany on Tuesday, June 30 @ 7pm on FOX. If the USA can connect on more chances and keep up their defensive stance, they should be able to defeat Germany. And it's a battle between the top two ranked teams.

Thanks for the replies to my last post
Crying or Very sad at France. Heartbreaking way to leave the World Cup. I feel for them

Congrats 2 U.S. on the win tonite. China defense looked weak compared to what I saw from the Canada match. U.S. gotta play better if they wanna beat Germany. Alex Morgan doesn't look like herself. Guess she not 100.

I hope Canada gets a win tomorrow without taking years from my life.

Boooo no not Japan, the Matildas! Laughing An upset is doable but Japan are a wonderful team so I'm tempering my expectations.

Yes, poor France, they really blew that chance near the end. Feel awful for them.

Agree the USA looked much better - I had been waiting for them to look better in the group games but it kept not coming. But Germany will ask more questions of the defence and will keep better control of the ball than China. Should be a fun game now that USA seem to have a bit of a groove back.

Gotta back England over Canada on form, but with a home crowd who knows.

Ahhh well, Matildas are out to a superior Japan. I'm jumping on the Japan bandwagon now - I love their technique, nice to watch.

England 2 - Canada 1

SEMIFINALS
Tuesday, June 30
USA vs. Germany, 7pm EST - FOX

Wednesday, July 1

The USA-China match saw the best ratings of this year's WC and the third highest overall with 5.7 million viewers. Only the 1999 Final(17.9 million) & the 2011 Final(13.4 million) were higher. I'm expecting the USA's semifinal match on Tuesday to beat this.
