Really, there is no reason to say that Asjha Jones did practically nothing. She is the one that came in and shut down Cambage in the second half after Liz tore through the starters in the first half. |
That is a myth. Cambage was scoreless for the third quarter (and fourth). Asjha Jones only played the last 2 minutes and 2 seconds of the third quarter. Cambage had been "shut down" before Jones even got into the game.

Cambage had 19 points for Australia in the first half but didnt score after the break. The USA became considerably more aggressive defensively, which coach Auriemma switching from a man-to-man to a very active three-two zone. |

Cambage was visibly spent before half time even arrived. Even I could have "shut her down" in the 2nd half that night.

It was more a matter of taking Candace Parker off of Cambage. Anyone else would have been an improvement.

She was eating Tina up before the half as well. I think it was the combo of them switching up the defense and Liz getting tired.

Parker didn't even start. Cambage was having a field day over Fowles and Charles before Candace even got in the game. Candace couldn't stop her in the first half but no one could.

I find it interesting that EDD at 6'5" towers over nearby 6'4" Tina and Stewie. |
EDD looks taller as Fowles aswell. So maybe she is closer to 6'6. But this picture looks a bit weird because Catchings looks to be the same height as Stewart aswell. And im sure that Stewart is a lot taller then Catchings

Serial survivor Seimone Augustus key for U.S. women's basketball team

With all the stuff shes been through, she has always stayed the same person, said longtime teammate Diana Taurasi. Shes has this even keel about her. Thats impressive. Shes (been) one of the biggest pieces of this team for a long time. |
Quote: |
You are a tough mother-mother, Auriemma told Augustus a key reserve on the 2012 team in London, averaging nearly eight points a game. Two years later, she was even better in the world championships, contributing more than nine points off the bench. |
Quote: |
She is the coolest person ever, Taurasi said. Everyone just loves being around her. Theres something to be said about a teammate that everybody wants on the team, and shes one of them. |

well I guess it's a popularity contest then to be in those final couple of spots- Mone and Catchings. By all accounts they are great teammates and were great players once too.

Last week, we told you about the unfortunate news that Craig Sager wont be going to Brazil for the Olympics due to needing a bone marrow transplant. Sager had been looking forward to working the sidelines for Team USA mens basketball games. Well, NBC didnt have to go far to find a replacement. It has announced that it will slide Ros Gold-Onwude from the womens sidelines to the mens games.
Gold-Onwude certainly knows the players being a sideline reporter for the Golden State Warriors on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area for two seasons. Her national profile is rising as she worked the NCAA Tournament for CBS/Turner and now has this high-profile assignment at the Olympics. During the Warriors offseason, Gold-Onwude has been the analyst for New York Liberty games on MSG Network.
So with Gold-Onwude working the mens sidelines, NBC needed a replacement to work the Team USA womens basketball games and the Peacock chose to tap Kerith Burke who has been working as an anchor/reporter for New Yorks SNY regional sports network. Burke has worked the sidelines for the University of Connecticut womens games which air on SNY so shell be coming into the Olympics knowing some of Team USAs roster. |

I would have been more upset at the exclusion of Catch than just about any other player. (Her, Bird, and Taurasi should have had their spots sewn up.)
Of course, my guess is there was never a question.

Thank you. I will grant the point that Asjha Jones contributed something above nothing to that Olympic team. By contrast, Swin did absolutely nothing in the games to earn that gold medal. I seriously doubt she contributed enough in practice to be the difference between gold and silver. There were several players whose play seemed to have earned them a spot, who would have been happy to practice with the team, sit on the bench through the games and get that gold medal draped around their neck. That was THE most blatant example of Geno rewarding a player who did not deserve it. I'm sorry for all you who've loved Swin since her UConn days, but Rebekah Brunson, Candice Dupree and/or Crystal Langhorne should have gotten that gold. Their one and only chance to get to the Olympics.

Fucking fantastic, so we're going to have UConn fapping fed to us even on NBC and its ilk?

Moore Taking Leadership Role In Second Olympic Go-Around

This role wont be new territory for the superstar small forward, shes seen it all in her professional career to this point. Moore hasnt missed a beat when it comes to assimilating new talent into an already stacked Minnesota roster will be looked upon to do the same in Rio. |

The starters should be: Bird-Taurasi-Moore-Charles-Fowles. The first three players off the bench should be: Delle Donne-Griner-Whalen.

If you look at this picture then Charles looks about the same height as Stewart. EDD is a bit taller but almost similar to Fowles
