Case solved: This is the true color of that goddamn white and gold dress

Did you guys hear about this? Someone in my family posted it on facebook. The optical explanations are really interesting, but I think it's a terrible photo. Perhaps jammer can weigh in on that.

For the record, I see white and gold.

Edit: maybe this article is better
This dress color war is the perfect way to end a wonderful day on the internet

Wonderful debate for our first day of Net Neutrality! Laughing Cool

I'm white and gold.

Local sports guy had a great line last night. He was showing clips of the Purdue game and made some reference to their white and gold unis, then said or maybe they're black and blue.

I hadn't seen this yet, so I just chalked it up to maybe it was a rough game and he was talking about bruised or something. When I read this a few minutes later, it all made sense.

I Fucking Love Science weighs in:
The Science Of Why This Dress Looks Different Colors To Different People

Glad I could help clear that up, Ex-Ref! Wink

Have you guys ever taken the Pantone Test (or more officially the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test)?

Online Color Challenge

I took it some time ago and this whole discussion about color perception made me think of it.

The dress in question was a distinct, deep blue and black to my eyes.

The test? Fun. I scored an 18 (0=best, 99=lowest score)

I used to work with a guy that had a degree in printing or something. He was some kind of expert in colors and how different fabrics, surfaces, and light will change how they appear. He set up some demos that were really pretty neat in how you could be fooled. So with that in mind, I'm going to claim that I scored a 3 on the test and blame any misses on my monitor. Smile

Yeah, but what color is the dress? Wink I really am curious, though, if there's any correlation.

Did anyone who sees blue/black (e.g. Howee) look at the IFLS article? What color was the grid square to your eyes?

I scored perfect on the color test, but it was excruciating.

As a digital photographer... I just say WOW. I can't believe this shit. The online human race is suddenly introduced to the confluence of digital color issues, including white balance and color profile settings, monitor differences, room lighting. I'm shaking my fucking head.

Laughing I knew I could count on you for a great pithy response to the situation, jammer.

Is there a hint of Llama Lesbianism implied here? Or just cross-dressing Llamas?

I'm with you, Jammer....wtf?? BOTH the CBS and NBC (they're the only ones I saw) carried stories on this. If this really generated the 11 million tweets as was claimed, I say we're doomed. By the way, one news account reported how that particular dress was flying off the shelves, and how the manufacturer was planning a (real!) gold and white version. Rolling Eyes

Slight fork in the path here: Did anyone see "Modern Family" this week? The ENTIRE episode was 3 families communicating via Skype, FB, Facetime, tweets, etc. My head hurt.
