(5)Ana Ivanovich just choked away the 2nd set v Hradecka in the opening round. Worthless serve. Heading to the 3rd.

What is w/ this chick?

Not since jenn capriati in '03, sez espn, has as high-ranked a seed lost in the opening rd.

Possibly a career defining win for young 19-year-old Madison Keys (USA) over two-time Wimbledon champion, Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic). I know Sloane Stevens (ranked 32) is supposed to be the rising American star, but if she does't get her act together, super strong Madison, currently ranked 35, will overtake her. In fact, depending on how far Madison goes Down Under, she may very well surpass Sloane when the rankings are updated after the Australia Open.

America on the rise again, with three Americans into the last 8.

Venus stunned A. Radwanska, (ending a three match losing streak to her) to roll to her ninth straight win this year.

Serena came back against Garbine Muguruza (the player who unceremoniously dumped Rena out of the French).

Madison beat Madison, as Keys overpowered Brengle to advance to play Venus.

The good news? At least one American will make it to the Semi-Finals.

I'm super pumped by Venus' resurgence here.

Blah. Giorgi Girl should've beaten Venus.

Screechapova just whipped Bouchard's butt. At least Moanarenka is gone.

the Sharapova-Bouchard match was such a let down. really thought we'd have a solid fight from both sides. Sharapova seems to be playing very well and at this point and, IMO, would likely beat either Williams' sister in the final.

As for the men's side: Nadal was easily ousted last night by Tommy Berdych. This likely sets up a Murray-Djokovic final.

Madison Keys defeats Venus Williams 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals and possibly face Serena Williams.

Nice Aussie Open run by young 19-year-old Madison Keys as she stretches Serena in a 6-7 (5-7), 2-6 loss in the semi-finals. If Sloane Stevens doesn't get her act together soon young Madison will be winning a Slam before she [Sloane] does.

Serena Williams is the oldest woman to reach the Aussie finals in the Open Era.

I love Maria's grit & determination. Nonetheless, I get a perverse joy out of watching Serena turn away Maria's attempts to defeat her time & time again. Laughing
