Isn't London even edging New York out at this point?

I think NY edged up a bit! There was an article in the NY Times yesterday about Bloomberg charming the pants of the IOC members. Who knows?

Paris is perfect for the Olympics. What a great place to visit too!
I can't wait!

The snotty French are not my ideal hosts for the Olympics. Can I just say that I'm partial to NY? Wink
BTW, talking about major sporting events, in less than 16 hours 500k tickets were sold for the first rounds of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
I was waiting for the second batch, but I guess I'll have to get mine soon, I never thought it'd go this fast!

Madrid are hoping their promise to put on a "green" Games will give them the edge over their rivals.

Their bid also highlights the city's high-quality public transport network, modern infrastructure and party atmosphere.

Not when I was there! Shocked lol

Germany sounds nice, too bad that's not one of the options, would like to visit sometime. Yeah, Paris is overdone... No excitement. Even in the last bid their team's wardrobe was underwhelming. It consisted of blue blazers and a button that said "Qui Paris!" ...No Gracias Razz

Madrileņos are a bunch of racists and biggots. What will they do about that?
Will they imitate monkeys again at the stadiums like they do at Real Madrid games???
And they do that to their OWN players.

I've visited Paris several times and rarely encountered anyone "snotty' I did notice how the French act towards obnoxious Americans. You know, tourists that make us look bad. Once I was buying something from a vendor on the street and another American walked up and rudely interrupted us. The French guy pretended not to understand English until the guy went away. He winked at me and continued the sale - in English!
The people there are really cool. The city is easy to get around in by Metro or on foot. Great restaurants and clubs too.
