This week, it was Schimmel who was recognized for her prominence as a 2014 Native American "40 under 40" award recipient.

The honor, designated by Schimmel's peers, is for "showing initiative and dedication to providing significant, positive contributions to business or in their respective communities," according to a news release from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development.

Shouldn't an article posted on the WNBA website at least get Shoni's stats correct? She averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds? When did that happen?

Anyway, pretty cool seeing the impact she has.

It was a two-pronged screw-up. The 6.3 points and 5.7 rebounds they stated were actually her playoff numbers, except that it was 5.7 assists rather than rebounds. Pretty typical for WNBA.com.

They actually just reprinted an article that appeared in the Louisville Courier Journal and USA Today. But I guess none of them bother checking facts.
