3rd quarter isn't even over yet and Kyrie Irving is 6 for 6 from behind the arc.
US leading Serbia 100-65 in the finals.

Its a shame that we didnt get to see USA vs Spain in the finals. Similar to wanting to see Mercury vs the Lynx in the wnba finals

The only thing worse than watching a blowout in women's basketball is watching a blowout in men's basketball. |

Spain is past its prime and Gasol is getting old. The strength of Europe is more likely to be from Eastern European teams. The USA built a team with a lot of size specifically designed to beat Spain. They would have dominated Spain too. But Spain lost to France which lost to Serbia.

Yeah, a starting lineup that went 6-10, 6-8, 6-5, 6-3 and 6-3, with one post who can't shoot and three perimeter players who can't guard anybody in the NBA. To paraphrase Don Rumsfeld, you play a tournament with the roster you have...

They didn't face Spain did they. But that's why they took 6'11" DeMarcus Cousins. 6'10" Anthony Davis, 6'10" Andre Drummond, 6'11" Mason Plumlee, 6'8" Kenneth Faried, and 6'8" Rudy Gay, and a couple 6'7" guys. This was a BIG physical team.
You don't think Irving or Rose can play any defense?

Woj: NBA needs to pull stars from USA Basketball,
which is showcasing only Duke's coach
Quote: |
Sooner than later, people will understand: Those most stridently touting the irreplaceable value of USA Basketball are those profiting the greatest from it.
As much as ever, USA Basketball has been co-opted into a Krzyzewski leverage play for the Duke Blue Devils. If that doesn't rile Kentucky's John Calipari, wait until the Duke coach is credited for DeMarcus Cousins' maturity with the Sacramento Kings this season.
The end's coming for USA Basketball's grip on the game in the States, but once change goes into effect come the 2018 World Cup, it won't matter much to Krzyzewski anymore. He still has two full summers of USA Basketball access left to him, and that'll make it a full decade of control. As one Duke alumnus would tell you: There is a USA Basketball storefront selling patriotism and duty with a backroom reality that peddles the Blue Devils and Nike swooshes. |
