He's been in the hospital recovering from surgery. Forgot what the procedure was exactly but he's OK.

Thanks for the info. The Sky could have done a better job letting fans know what is going on. We could have sent him some get well cards. Wink

There's a guaranteed contract deadline coming up soon. If she makes it past that, she should be good for the season.

she's officially a member of the Sky for good unless they waive her. Macaulay was waived to make room for Gemelos on the roster.

Laney signed by the Perth Lynx

http://www.scarletknights.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/072015aaa.html

Quote:
“This is a great opportunity for me to improve my game while playing in one of the world’s strongest competitions,” said Laney in a statement to the Perth Lynx. "I’m excited to be moving to a beautiful part of the world to be a part of a highly professional organisation. I’m looking forward to being a part of the Western Australian community.”

“From the first time I watched Laney play I just saw this raw energy, and when launching a new program it’s very important to have someone to lead us in that area - so we have the entire group wanting to play as hard as she does,” said Perth Lynx coach Andy Stewart. She competes for everything, she is busy off the ball, she works extremely hard on defense and she has good, solid fundamentals, but it was really that energy factor that excited us.”

Happy for Laney, work on getting some height and arc on your jump shot.

Stat tidbits from the Sky (as of Monday):

1) Sky shoot 46.3%; opponents 42.3%

2) That 85% FT% translates to +31 in free throws, even though Chicago has just one more FTA

3) 106 blocks (plus 44)

4) EDD is an amazing shooter (now there's a stunner) even though she's just 22% from three. 37 blocks but just 1.7 assists/36 minutes

5) Cappie's shooting really well too (46.7% overall)

6) CVS 81/30 A/TO, 6.1 assists/36 minutes

7) This can't be right: Jamierra Faulkner 0 steals in 149 minutes

Cool This can't be right: Cheyenne Parker 0 assists in 105 minutes; 23.1 FT%

It was as of 24 hours ago, but Faulkner was credited with two steals against Atlanta so her season totals are now two in 156. Which is really odd since she averaged a steal for every 21 minutes played last year...

Behind superstar Elena Delle Donne, WNBA surges into relevance

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/wnba/2015/07/22/elena-delle-donne/30535605/

Quote:
"This is an incredible time right now for women's sports. People are finally starting to take notice," Delle Donne told USA TODAY Sports. "We all have really awesome stories, and we're all really good basketball players. It might be our stories that attracts them, and when they come watch, they'll be coming back for sure."

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Wonder who Cappie's talking about:
Quote:

"She doesn't ask for too much. She is a superstar in the league, and they sometimes can be intimidating," said Cappie Pondexter. "She doesn't come across that way, and that's helpful."

Nice article, thanks plight, Here is ESPN's article;

http://espn.go.com/wnba/story/_/id/13306318/elena-delle-donne-takes-game-even-greater-level-season

If there is one issue EDD needs to work on it is her lateral movement on defense.

Stefanie Dolson and EDD were very good at practice. They sat down and answered questions from fans. One of the questions asked of EDD was

"If you could set up your own WNBA team who would it be on your Team"

Elena answered she would take Dolson and the whole Sky Team.
Dolson responded that would be a good team. LOL

Now, I loved that answer.

The missing piece for the Sky is a good center. Wink

It was an answer that was to be expected though. She wasnt going to be rude to Dolson and to her own teammates so she said them.

THE FACE OF THE WNBA

I was so impressed with the names of the people who had nothing but nice things to say about Elena.
