I think that covers the most likely players to make the team. Then, they have to decide who makes it amongst Simmons, McIntyre, Angel Robinson, and Ramu Tokashiki... or do some more waiver-wire scavenging. |
I can't see KML starting right now. She really is a defensive liability. I also don't think they brought Bishop over to be a backup. I'm willing to bet that they try Bishop as a 3 or pair her with Langhorne in the post. I think you're right on in terms of the personnel. I also expect the personnel rotations at the start of the season to make no sense as they figure out what works. |
Agreed. I could see them starting Lang beside Bishop in some games, I was just trying to put players at their natural positions in a desperate attempt to sort out the roster.
Actually, last year was so painful, I blacked most of it out... it's almost like 2013 is the last season I really remember. So I don't recall much about Waltiea Rolle, but her numbers look pretty good for a low-minute player, In the absence of better options maybe she can take on a bigger load.

Nice lineup, going to cause some trouble in the WNBA this year.

They'll probably be the thorn in San Antonio's side, but that's probably about it.

I cannot think of a better person than Sue Bird to have as a tutor.
When she makes a mistake, Sue will tell her.

It is not out of the question that she could make it to the final roster.
If we assume that Bird, Montgomery, Loyd, KML, O'hea, Clark, Langhorne, Bishop, Hollingworth and Rolle are pretty sure things that leaves two spots.
One up front for either, McIntire, Robinson or Tokashiki and one in the back-court for either Simmons or Davis.

Lauren Jackson's had another knee surgery:
http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/storm/lauren-jackson-undergoes-another-knee-surgery/
She was already pretty much ruled out of this season but this absolutely puts any hope to rest. The next question for her becomes whether she's healthy enough to play this fall for the Opals and next year for the Olympics.
No Storm fan I have talked to believes she will ever play for us again.

This fall for the Opals? What do you mean? The qualification games against NZ? She should rest and the Opals can win those 2 without her with Batkovic and Hodges in the post.

Australia's under-18s would probably beat New Zealand in those qualifiers. The Oceania 'region' is a joke. |

I'm just basing it on what I read in an AUS article - that Cambage and Jackson were recovering with a hope that they would be available to participate in the qualifiers. Whether available translates into playing is yet to be seen. I don't doubt that Opals could win those quals with the WNBL players that are on off-season.

It was there for a while before the draft knocked everything else off the page.

Boundless in Seattle: Bird, Rookies Ready To Welcome New Era For Storm
http://www.wnba.com/news/bird_rookies_ready_welcome_2015_05_07.html
Quote: |
“Kaleena [Mosqueda-Lewis] was somebody that I really liked that if I was still there I had great interest,” said Agler, who is now the head coach of the Sparks, but presided over Seattle winning the draft lottery in August. “So, not only did they get her, they got Jewell Loyd as well.” |
Quote: |
"Anytime that you decide that you’re going to go a different direction and try to get young talent and do somewhat of a rebuilding situation, for you to get back in that championship hunt, you’ve got to catch some breaks," Agler said. "And they caught a break this year." |
Quote: |
“Obviously, Lauren [Jackson] and I both being 20, 21 when we started with the Storm,” said Bird, “and able to kind of stay together for so many years, you can kind of see a parallel with [Loyd and Mosqueda-Lewis].” |
Quote: |
“She’s been a great mentor so far,” Loyd said of Bird. “She’s also just helped me learn the game a little better – the tricks and stuff that she learns and knows, so she’ll probably just pass that on to me. So, anything I can learn from her I’m willing to learn from her. If she’s willing to teach, I’m willing to learn.”
“Sue’s been playing in the league for 13 years now,” added Mosqueda-Lewis. “I think that she just has so much knowledge and she’s willing to help me and Jewell out as much as she can and pass on everything. So, I’m excited to learn from her and for her to help us in any way that she can.” |
Quote: |
“We’ve been the oldest team a lot of years,” Bird said. “So I think it’s going to be good to have young players, to have new players.
“I’m glad that I can be here on the tail end of my career and the beginning of theirs to kind of show them the ropes a little bit. I have lived it. I do know what’s ahead for them, and I can kind of help them.” |

Beat me to it. But cheer up, fans: Dick Fain still be there. I also spoke with the person in charge of logistics in detail about the IT upgrade to Key Arena that they spearheaded. They expect a much better quality LiveAccess broadcast to have started sometime last season.
In case folks weren't aware, Adia is due with her first child - a boy - any day now.
