12. McKenith

10. Liston

I suspect either Dantas or White will be next at #9.

Dantas Seems Ready For The Spotlight

Quote:
Dantas, who started the season as a raw talent that relied on her instincts, was a different player down the stretch. Though her overall minutes saw a slight decrease, she was more confident when she got into the game. Dantas morphed into a scrappier player on the low block and wasn’t afraid to put her head down and bully her way to the bucket.

Her budding relationship with her teammates was on display as Dantas looked more comfortable when she was on the floor as the season progressed. Her communication seemed to increase as she made certain plays without even needing to communicate verbally. That, coupled with her goofiness in the locker room after games, and it was clear that Dantas had no problem fitting in last season amid the language barrier.

Moore's Shanxi beat Griner's Beijing 70-62.

Wasn't Maya's most efficient outing. It took her 38 shots to make 35 pts.
She shot 1-11 from three. She had 10 reb and 6 stl though.

Griner had 24 pts (11-17), 7 reb, and only one block.

Apparently Amber Harris has a clean bill of health. Yesterday she headed back to Korea.

Cagliari beat Trieste 83-71 last night in round 8.

The Secret Weapon was back in destruction mode as she went 12-15 (7-10 3P) for 32 pts, 6 reb, 2 stl.

Asia Taylor was very quiet. 0-1 for for 1 pt, 10 reb. Deferring to Liston possibly? There were only 5 team assists so it seems almost like Liston creating her own shots.

In other league news, Ragusa (Plenette Pierson, Ashley Walker) takes down mighty Familia but Chiney wasn't listed on the boxscore.

Did I miss the feature on Tan White, because I spotted this one on Dev Peters. Wasn't expecting her next.

Peters Fills Vital Role For Lynx

Quote:
As the Lynx precede into this offseason Peters will be focused on staying healthy.

I could have sworn she was cut by her off season club because of injury, but the article doesn't make a mention of it... so I dunno.

Quote:
It remains to be seen whether Peters is the long-term plan for the Lynx. She clearly has the talent to make an impact moving forward, assuming she stays healthy. It’s no doubt Peters has lived up to be taken No. 3 overall in the 2012 WNBA Draft. That said Minnesota will look for her to take an even bigger step forward next season.

If her knees hold up it’d be a good bet that she has no problem making that jump.

Shades have you been watching the Lynx in Italy? Streaming in Italy is not as great as some other leagues, but it is every game for free around the world, which is nice.

Asia Taylor DNP today.

Round 9 report for Team MIN ITA

Lucca edges out Cagliari 55-51. Liston with another solid outing with 22 pts on 11 shots taken. Asia Taylor with the DNP. Not sure what's going on there.
The notable American on Lucca is Kayla Pedersen. She had 12 pts, 10 reb.

Her picture is supposed to show up in that box. Maybe she's too new and doesn't have one yet. Amber Harris has played a couple of games for Hanabank in Korea. She's probably a substitute for Alyssa Thomas. Her teammate is Sims. (Harris to Tulsa?)

Reeve will have to decide if she's gonna maintain a low patience attitude towards Harris, or is she gonna bring Harris back because she has height and size and the Lynx need somebody besides McCarville who can wrestle around with Griner.

While awaiting final stats, Secret Weapon had 27 today and Asia Taylor had 18 in an 88-71 Cagliari win.

I saw that! 6-8 from three. Unreal. Looking like a keeper. I'm glad her nickname is catching on. Wink

Taylor with a double double.

The Lynx might not have room for a new rookie this year. What am I saying? They still got McKenith.

Coming in at a roster rank of #7, Tan White.

White Proves To Be A Calming Force

Quote:
White was just that for the Lynx last season — a calming force off the bench that could snap from time to time. White played in 34 games, and while she only averaged 17.8 minutes per game, she amassed 4.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest. Her presence, however, wasn’t enough in the end as Minnesota fell to the Phoenix Mercury in the playoffs.

Minnesota is likely hoping White can continue that success next season. White will enter her 10th season in the WNBA next year, and even though the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft is getting up there in years, she proved last year that she can still be a meaningful contributor on a great team.

Here's a screenshot of some player, I'm not sure of the name. Some people refer to her as the Secret Weapon. She single dribbles and launches a shot from beyond halfcourt and toward the side of the court. You can see the ball toward the top edge of the pic.

Surely this was a wasted attempt....

I like the nickname "Secret Weapon", because it's so secret even Cheryl Reeve doesn't know about it Laughing

Reeve adopted?? Shocked

Quote:
On Monday, Reeve took time away from caring for her three-week-old son to say how much she totally enjoyed the experience of working for UConn's Hall of Fame coach.

Reportedly Asia Taylor will not return to Italy after the break, so Cagliari became less Lynx-linked. I suppose they could sign another Lynx player to replace her.

Any reason given? She played well in the last game.

Amber Harris seems to be available.

I was watching the T-Wolves vs. Utah the other night and Lynx asst. Jim Petersen (who is also the Wolves game analyst) mentioned off the cuff that he was up at Cal scouting a week ago.

Could Cal Bears Reshanda Gray or Brittany Boyd in the lynx future?

Did he specifically say Cal the school or maybe he was referring to the state?

I'm not sure either of them would be available at #11.

i'm assuming he meant the school because folks don't commonly refer to the state of California as "Cal", Cali maybe, but not Cal.
