PostPosted: 08/17/14 10:11 pm    ::: 2014 Rebkell All-WNBA Teams Voting Ends 8/21 4pm PT/7pm ET Reply Reply with quote

With the conclusion of the 2014 WNBA season, it's time to vote for the Rebkell All-WNBA Teams.

The voting will go from now until Thursday 8/21 at 4pm PT/7pm ET (the start of the 1st playoff game).

One ballot per person, edits allowed until the cut off time listed above.

The voting will be for 2 guards and 3 forward/centers or front court players.

10 points for 1st team
5 points for 2nd team

Ballots must be submitted as

1st Team
G-
G-
F-
F-
F or C-

2nd Team
G-
G-
F-
F-
F or C-

The top 2 guards will be named to the 1st team, the next 2 will be named to the 2nd team, the top 3 frontcourt players will be named to the 1st team, and the next 3 will be named to the 2nd team, in the case of a tie, a 6th member will be added to the 1st or 2nd team. Only ballots with 10 players and filled out as shown above, will be counted.

I will also give out honorable mention honors to those who appear on the 70% of the total ballots, but do not finish in the top 4 (guards) or top 6 (frontcourt) in voting.

I will count players as they are positioned by the voter. So a player could have votes as both a guard and a frontcourt player, but they won't be combine to determine All-WNBA status, but if she were to not finish in the top 4 or 6 they would be combined to determine how many ballots she was on for honorable mention status.

Here is the voting thread from last season

Maybe positions for a player should be established first so as not to leave a deserving player out. If say some people vote Augustus as a forward and some as a guard. Same for Maya Moore. I think it would have to be done just for a handful of players.

I believe the official ballot is still G/G/F/F/C, if anyone cares (someone who has one could confirm). Only All-Star voting that's switched to three frontcourt players.

It only happened with 2 players last year, Maya Moore received 1 vote as a guard and 25 as a front court player, and Angel McCoughtry received 3 votes as a guard and 12 as a front court player. I don't know this year how many, if any at all it will happen to, but if someone wants to offer a suggestion that the a majority of the group can agree on, I'm all for it.

Also both players were named to the All-WNBA teams, Maya was 1st team and Angel was 2nd team, and those votes for guard probably wouldn't have boosted Angel to 1st team, if they were switched to front court player.

Or maybe just a consensus that people vote Moore as a F and Augustus as a G so as to keep it consistent. I don't think there really needs to be a differential for anyone else. As it is, I'm sure most people think of Moore as a F anyway but just in case.

I don't know, but looking through the All-WNBA teams over the years they seem to change things from year to year, Lauren Jackson has been listed as a Forward, Forward-Center and Center throughout the years, so I don't know if the league sends out a list and has moved her depending on the season to different list, or if the votes just voted here as different positions throughout the years, or if they listed her as a forward-center in some years because they combined votes from both positions. There are also a few other players who are listed with 2 positions (Guard-Foward, Forward-Center) as well, so I'm not exactly sure what they do, or how they determine the positions they list.

Also as a reminder could you include first and last names, or at least first initials for players, with multiple players having the same last names it just makes it easier to give the right people votes.

For your ballot to count you are going to have to pick 3 of the 5 front court players you have on the 2nd team.

For your ballot to count your 2nd team needs to have 2 guards and 3 front court players.

Second Team
G Diggins
G McCoughtry
F N.Ogwumike
F Dupree
C de Souza

McCoughtry made All-WNBA as a guard a year ago, so I'm cheating a bit and sticking her there. Augustus would have needed to perform at MVP level to overcome ten missed games.

No player that misses at least half the season should be voted second team WNBA.
