CANDICE WIGGINS

The Los Angeles Sparks have signed veteran free agent guard and former WNBA Champion Candice Wiggins, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Penny Toler. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to play for the Sparks and I am absolutely beside myself with joy and excitement for the incredible opportunity to play in Los Angeles and bring my talent back to California,” said Wiggins. “I'm ready to do whatever it takes to win and bring a WNBA Championship to the city of Los Angeles, and I know this era will truly be a Magic-al one. I’d also like to thank the Shock organization and the wonderful Tulsa fans for an incredible experience last season, it was truly special and unforgettable.”

It's not necessary to start a separate thread on each and every single player the Sparks sign.

So the Sparks now have four starting calibre guads and 3 starting calibre PFs. Is there a trade on the way?

It's also not necessary to tell me board etiquette. I can and will post how I see fit until a MODERATOR tells me otherwise, but thank you for your concern.

Time to start the Skylar Diggins to LA trade rumors! At least it'll make the Shock drafting Sims more plausible.

You mean like a Toliver + Ogwumike for Charles trade?

This Sparks hater is asking how the Sparks avoid the salary cap.

At least now I don't have to tolerate Wiggy and Diggy at the same time.

Just think if the NYL had a seperate thread for each signing or transaction. It'd be struggle to find other topics. It'd be chaos.

True Sparks haters know that they are not subject to the same rules as the rest of the league Laughing

Actually Sims to TUL is more plausible now with one less guard on the roster. Confused

yeah, Wiggins going to LA pretty much guarantees Tulsa will take Sims.

Given who the Sparks have signed, I would think Beard is the more likely casualty.

PG: Lindsey, Ice
SG: Kristi, 'Mintie, A'dia
SF: Alana, Farhiya
PF: Nneka, Sandrine, Ebony
C: Ace, Jantel

I certainly hope A'dia asserts herself as a downtown threat this season. Kristi should get help from Ice.

I hope Farhiya is looking more like a track & fielder nowadays.

Farhiya Abdi ‏@FarhiyaAbdi13 Mar 15
@saysamiam I will probably be in LA around the end of april! Cant wait

Yeah.you could be right. But LA needs to be careful. They were successful against the Lynx last year.Don't downgrade the defense for an inconsistent outside shooter.

Wiggins and especially Herrington are known for their defense. Beard has a size advantage (even more now that she's listed at 6'1 instead of the 5'11 she had been) but doesn't have the quickness she used to.
