We’ll see what number that spicy Game 4 earned — on a slow night in sports, with the only MLB playoff game decided early — but the last time a WNBA Finals game averaged more than a million viewers was in 2003. And for non-playoffs, the league has to search back to Candace Parker’s rookie debut in 2008 as the only time a regular season game averaged at least a million viewers.

If you’re thinking that seven-figure viewership is the Holy Grail that only a cultural earthquake can achieve, think again. This fall, a Professional Bull Riding broadcast on CBS topped 1.8 million viewers.

I agree. The scheduling felt bizarre to me. Sucked all of the energy and urgency of the series (and rest of the playoffs) for me.

It’s the kind of scheduling that should happen during the regular season so the players don’t get worn out. I was happy with the playoff scheduling.

Oh, I couldn’t read the article because I didn’t want to give my email to the Washington Post. Was the author really comparing ESPN ratings with CBS ratings? Anything on CBS is going to have high viewership.

At least they had a half decent play by play announcer. usually they just have a bunch of ex players or coaches ranting on about anything except the on going game. People need to realize it takes a bit of talent to call a game and while also fitting in color commentary. Thats all the gals did was color commentary.
