I see these other topics, but obviously what I am most concerned about is the Sky. What do you all think the Sky need to do to get over the next hurdle and beat Indiana?

Time. That is a great core group. Probably better coaching.

What is Swords' timetable? I'd like to see us draft a post player. Warley and Campbell ain't cuttin' it.

She said she's going to give it a go this offseason (not sure when) but should definitely be healthy for next season.

We should get a pretty good player with the #11 pick considering next year's draft is so deep. So that's a plus.

I must be missing something about this upcoming draft. I don't see it being all that special.

Maybe. Drafts always seem deep a year out, but Taylor, Zellous, and Latta were all No. 11 picks. Of course, so were Jene Morris, Iciss Tillis, and Victorian Dunlop.

Depends on your definition of Special. There are deep drafts and there are top heavy drafts. This year with the Big 3, it was top heavy. I expect a second rounder in 2014 to have a better shot at a roster spot than a second round 2013.

It will be interesting to see if the league adds roster spots as well.

I've thought this draft would be deep for couple seasons now. Are there lots of starters in the mix? Probably not. But I could see some of the 2014ers fighting for some of those role playing spots.

The other intriguing thing about 2014 is that there a lot of different type of players. Lots of different guards, wings, posts. Each team will really have a chance to select for specific need.

Yeah, the point isn't to draft a starting-caliber player, but to draft either a better post than Campbell or a better PG than Quigley. The core of this team is all set, they just need for the entire bench to not have terrible seasons all at once. Mental toughness (of Prince, especially) will also be important.

That's interesting, especially since seven second rounders made a roster appearance this season.

Edit: My bad, actually nine secound rounders made an appearance. I'll be very surprised if 2014 does the same.

The key to the Sky is Epiphanny Prince. She just didn't seem that interested this year, for whatever reason. She's a much better player than she showed, or at least she has been, but if she returns as the elite scorer she once was, a healthy Swords and something better than Quigley (Bria Hartley?) to go along with Tamera Young is a nice eight.

Anyone know how Prince and EDD are off the court? are they friends? do they get along? would prince be looking for an off season move?

I like Swords as Fowles' back-up for 8-10 mpg. Pokey seems to like Young, but after that, I'd dump the rest. There's several players in Connecticut that want out and Bass is a UFA. Bring Bass in and trade Murphy & their 1st rounder for Lawson.

PG: Vandersloot/Lawson
SG: Prince/RFA
SF: Cash/Young
PF: Delle Donne/Bass
C: Fowles/Swords/Warley

The only way I see that as being enough for Lawson is if she pulls a trade me here scenario.

The feeling seemed that they all got along, or they acted like it very well. Prince had a monster start to the season. Much like last year, she looked like a superstar. Then only 3 games in, 3 games where the Sky averaged 20 point victories she left for Russia and sprained her foot. She wasn't out long, but I wonder if she had some lingering pain or instability that slowed her down some. Prince at her best the wole season would help, but I wonder if she is gonna have Russian commitments next summer to try to get them into the World's. Any of you know?

I'd also like to see Sloot become an offensive threat. She was a lot better this year, hopefully she can take that same big step on her point production. 3 good 3 pointshooters on the court will really spread the defense thin.

I'd also like to see a 3 point specialist off the bench. I thought that was gonna be quigley when I saw them practice at the open practice for season ticket holders, but that fell a bit short. Seemed like everyone but larkins had the green light for 3 pointers while we had 2 and plus qugleys rogue 3's.

The disaster at EuroBasket Women means Russia are out of the 2014 Worlds. But that means Russia will have EuroBasket Women 2015 qualifiers next summer - so they might want Piph for those. It'll probably be the typical negotiation and procrastination nonsense around when she'd leave and how long she'd miss. They really shouldn't need her to qualify, but given the mess they've been in recent years they might call her up anyway.

And I find it really hard to attribute much of the drop-off in her play to the ankle, because it essentially lasted for the rest of the season. If it was her ankle causing the level of play, then she should've taken a few weeks off to rest it and recover. It's not like she played badly for a couple of weeks while she got over it. Plus she had a few decent games after coming back.

Lawson seems pretty finicky about where she's gonna play. She's got this fairly secure gig as an ESPN analyst, and that's probably why she went to CON in the first place (ESPN headquarters).

Now if an ESPN featured office is good enough, the most likely places she'd want to go are CHI, LA, SEA, and maybe SAN (close enough to Dallas?)

But Kara has that Lawson pride. She didn't want to be a backup to Montgomery, and I doubt she'll want to be a backup anywhere else.

I kinda think if CON gets Chiney that improves their prospects and Lawson might try to work things out with CON. I think this "everybody hates Donovan" sentiment is blown out of proportion.

It's really just blown out of proportion by one poster, who seems to have a hatred of Donovan so extreme it has turned into some weird personal vendetta.

Just for the record, I don't hate Anne Donovan. Don't know the woman, and have interviewed her a few times.

I just don't think she's a good coach.

I'd be really surprised if Mistie would play for Chicago.

If I recall correctly didn't she play for Chicago before. I don't remember if it was Pokey or the coach before her that cut her.
