With Tayler Hill becoming pregnant alter Washington's decision on who they draft in 2014? Should they draft a guard or post player?

Regardless, I thought they needed to go guard. I think Dolson is the only post they even consider at the 6th pick--if she's still there.

Should the Mystics pass on a player like Jordan Hooper? She is someone that has height, rebounding skill, and a good offensive game.

At #6? Most definitely pass.

I don't think Dolson gets past the Fever at 5.

That's what I was thinking but if Chelsea Gray drops that might give Dunn something to think about, even though they seem pretty loaded at guard not even considering Douglas's status.
Does Dunn pass on Indy talent? She passed on Faris last year to my surprise.
Doesn't it seem like Dunn avoids drafting UConn players? How many are on the Fever team?

If Gray drops maybe it is because Dolson is a lottery pick. Gray may not be over her knee injury based on today's game.

If Gray somehow drops, I hope the Fever draft her, no matter if they need a guard or not. IMO, she is too good to let get by. Draft her and sort out the roster later.

Not the way the draft will go, but McBride would be a nice fit for the dream. |

The draft will either have more posts/forwards drafted in the early rounds or more guards. Whichever way nature takes the draft there will be an unexpected person that will drop down to the lower level of the first round.

Agree on both points - but the Dream are 8th, not 7th. Not optimisitic McBride will still be available.

That draft looks similar to what i've been thinking all along until you get to #3 and #4. IMO both Tulsa and SA need a SF and Alyssa Thomas is too good to pass up on EITHER team.
Lottery (in my eyes):
#1 Ogwumike- Conn
#2 Sims- NY
#3 Thomas- Tulsa
#4 Dolson- SA
Then I see Indy taking McBride at #5
and my Mystics taking Gray. I actually think Latta at PG and Gray at the SG looks pretty good. BUT Gray will need time to get back into playing form from that injury.

Looks reasonable. Be nice when we know the actual draft order (4:30 pm eastern tommorrow on Sports Center).

FibaEurope announced their Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year nominations last week. If the draft eligibility rules stay the same in the new CBA, four of the Young Player nominees will be eligible to be drafted (assuming none of them are intending to enter the NCAA, which as far as I know they're not). There are highlight videos at each link:
Astou Ndour (athletic but very thin Spanish post - someone's going to draft her, question is where)
Olivia Epoupa (quick little French point guard)
Valeriane Ayayi (promising French wing - considering SASS took Tchatchouang last year, wouldn't be a surprise to see someone take Ayayi this time)
Mariya Popova (Belarussian post) |

Personnally I'd like Jordan Hooper to be available for the Sparks at the 11th pick, but I'm not sure she'll be there, plus she would exactly be filling a big need for the Sparks, but I think she could help because of her range it would open up the middle.

As the WNBA Draft lottery is picked Tuesday afternoon, who are the top players to watch this college season? Who should your favorite team be looking at to cure their ills, to fix their problems? Is it one of these players? The future will let us know…. |

First try i'll rethink later
1. Conn Ogwumike
2. Tulsa Thomas
3. SA Sims (expect one of their guards to be traded for a post in the future)
4. NY Gray (She actually might be the perfect fit so maybe our bad luck turns into good luck)
5. Indiana Dolson ( I could see this being McBride as well but think they go big, if they do pick mcBride I would expect a trade of one of their guards for a post as well)
6. Washington McBride
7. Seattle Ochonwa (A little high but I think Seattle goes post who can play some minutes at the center spot, and Ochonwa has been playing well)
8. Atlanta Lucas (might go post but needs someone who can shoot the 3, Hartley might be better but is too similar to players they already have)
9. PX Hartley
10. Chicago Howard
11. LA Stalworth
12. Minnesota Walker (Ok I pulled a name out of a hat I figure they're looking at a front-court player and couldn't think of anyone else, maybe Brandon if they're willing to wait on her injury)

It's kind of scary how similar McBride is to Natalie Novosel on paper.

I think McBride has a stronger more WNBA-ish body, but you never know. They might end up having the same fate.

Not on the court. McBride is a far superior talent who impressed the USA Basketball peeps playing against the senior national players.
Also a killer instinct. I used to joke with her when she was in the Big East that she kicked Husky dogs in her spare time.
