Thoughts? Maggie Lucas as the 2nd guard taken is a big IF. I like McBride, Schimmel, and Hartley over Lucas. All have shown that they can lead and take over big games besides Lucas. I would like to see Schimmel land in Phoenix but I don't think she goes down that far. She is a 6 - 10 pick, imo...Who will take their chances with SImmons?

I don't see Simmons in the WNBA being any better than Shannon Bobbitt. (I'm only comparing them because they are both Lady Vols). Unless Simmons has a stellar and I mean stellar year next year and the Lady Vols either make it to the final four, or the championship game (which I doubt), then Simmons would be lucky if she lands late in the 2nd round. I've seen her play several games in each of her seasons in Tennessee, and aside from having a good scoring game now and then, I don't think she's very good. IF the Lady Vols make it deeper into the tournament next year, it will not be because of her but because of Bashaara Graves and Mercedes Russell.

Oh, and they left out Lauren Mincy. Kid has talent but she has had two ACL injuries.

I didn't know Walker played then 3?
Also the irony of her going to Connecticut. |

They have her school listed as UConn and not Kentucky.

Shannon Bobbitt was an early second round pick.

PHX? We need Sergeant Slaughter and her TT-esque defense in LA. Besides, we want to see Slaughter against Brittney again at the pro level. |
No......this time they can be on the same team! |

I want some of whatever they be smokin'.
Steph Dolson over Alyssa Thomas?
Maggie Lucas before Chelsea Gray? (and they DESPERATELY need a PG)
Samarie Walker in the first round?
33 players ahead of Tricia Liston?
No Haley Peters?

I'm pretty sure Lauren will not be in the 2014 draft. She'll be a red-shirt junior next year.
I know I'm a Maryland homer but, Alyssa Thomas will be a top 3 pick. She won't have to carry the team like she had to this year and the pressure to make things happen won't be as heavy. she can be more herself...." Just Plain Good "

I will be surprised if Thomas is not top 3. Maggie Lucas is ify for WNBA success, not top 6 by me.

People undervalue Thomas. And unless Gray's rehab goes poorly, ATL takes her.

I also think Slaughter will be picked before Shimmel.

While Slaughter was awesome in the playoffs, she wasn't always 'on' during the season. I think we need to see if the consistency is there for her senior season to determine how high she goes.

I just don't see Slaughter as a WNBA player.
She's a 6-0 wing, and the fact that they had her on Griner does not give me great confidence that she can defend quickness in space.
She shot 43.2% overall, 35.8% from three and had more turnovers than assists. She seems like a good rebounder for her size, but unless she's a defensive demon on the perimeter, it's hard to see how a 10.1 ppg scorer in college is going to make a difference in the WNBA.
In addition, her three-point release is a little slow, so I would expect that percentage to go down.

I know Sims is a great point guard, but I feel like WNBA GMs are salivating over Alyssa Thomas' skill set. Outside of Washington, I feel like any other team picking at #2 would go with Thomas.
Schimmel and Lucas have a lot to prove for next year, but right now I'd take McBride over both of them.
