Note that the $120 figure is in Australian dollars.

Negotiations will resume in Canberra on Wednesday when Jackson, along with Donovan and Bryant, will be on a scouting mission at the WNBL local derby between the Canberra Capitals and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Scouting Renae Camino already? Why not... she's going be an international star. I don't think she would be looking at Jenny Whittle Laughing

Perhaps the Storm tried to get her to sign for more than one year.

1 yr, 3yrs doesn't really matter much she's not going anywhere. But 2006 is World Championships yr so some foreign players will be having to make some choices again Sad
Anyone know the dates of the 2006 Worlds ?

Are they going to have to shorten the season, or start it earlier? The playoffs will run into the WC.

The W should be done by then. Last year they ran late - into Oct.

The 2003 finals started on September 12th. The W will have to finish a little early.

If they manage to finish a week earlier than the WC opening day, it still won't be enough time for NTs to prepare if their players are on playoff teams. Some international players on non-playoff teams can go home earlier, but it's hard to predict what's going to happen next year. We have to consider how serious NTs will be about the WC now that FIBA wants to have it happen every two years and in uneven years.
To me, it will either kill club competition or international competition, and I'm leaning towards the latter. It's going to be very hard to squeeze in Euroleague, EuroCup and the national European leagues plus the WNBA and still have time to practice for the WCs. We'll start seeing NTs with many youngsters, junior players, since the more experienced players will have contracts to fulfill. IMHO, what will happen is what happened to Olympic men's soccer. The stars don't care, the biggest international tournament is the World Cup (in this case, it's the other way around, the Olympics would be the only prize in international competition).
It's a very tricky situation, and I hope FIBA realizes that before they officially approve the 2-year hiatus for the WCs.
