I hate this nonsense. If there is an event to eliminate, it is this.

Are you kidding? What's more macho than a man with a brisk manly stride. Laughing

Dressage was equally boring... Billed as 'Horse Ballet/Dancing', it was more like Horse Walking, and they just examine its walking form.

and, the horse is doing all of the work, pretty much. so, is the rider considered an "athlete"? Razz

I read there is a scientist that said that through thorough analysis, he has determined it is physically impossible to keep the one foot on the ground at all times rule and get the time they are getting.

So therefore the sport MUST be eliminated, because they are CHEATING! Against the Olympic spirit!

_______X [co-sign]

Quite agree!

Last week on the talk-show Chelsea Lately, guest-host Wanda Sykes asked a panel of three comedians on this sport. One of them said that it "looks like a bunch of people at the office trying to get to the bathroom as quickly as they can without actually running." Laughing

Race-walking is the most silliest-looking Olympic sport there is, with the possible exception of curling.

This betrays an ignorance of the equestrian sports. But it is a commonly held misconception.

Not unless you think the horse doesn't need a human rider on top of it for any athletic competition.

If that were the case, then perhaps horses don't even need jockeys at the Kentucky Derby?

You guys just don't see the beauty of Dressage. It can leave you speechless:

"It's not often that I'm at a loss for words but it's one of those moments..."

Think of its as "Dancing with the Mares."

But don't worry if they eliminate basketball there will be more room for pole dancing in Rio:

I was laughing so hard when she was talking about the urge to start running if someone caught you. Laughing
