This might be an awkward time to bring this up, but I'm having a hard time recalling one Harrower supporter when the team was being formed.

Are apologies to Graf forthcoming? Smile

This has nothing to do with that. This is her last game as an Opal. Her farewell of the national team. So i think its very moving to see them putting her on her shoulder etc.

Not from me. I don't think a team with her was designed to go head to head with the US. Something that was borne out. Glad to see her perform so well in her last game, though. And she has dedicated years to BA, so it's nice to see a poetic send off.

I'm not quite understanding the target of this trolling.
Apologies to Graf about what? Including Kristi? She was always a no-brainer inclusion.

Not too many teams are designed to go head-to-head with USA

It's great to see the joy and excitement from the Opals at the end of the game. And it's nice to see Kristi Harrower close out her career with the Opals with a medal and with a great game.

I didn't take what she said in a bad way, she was very complimentary of the Opals for playing hard and fighting for the bronze, she said something like they don't want to leave the Olympics off the medal stand. I erased the game, but there was more to what she said, and it was in response to a question about how can the Opals get up for the game after playing for gold the last 3 Olympics, it's not as if she just said it out of the blue.

Why are people all willing to point out the bad things she says, but no one points out the good the she says, she has spoken very highly of Australia all Olympics, including Lauren Jackson, Suzy Batkovic and Kristi Harrower.

Because these same people have hated her for years and will do anything to justify their stance? She can say 999 great things about a player, but people will focus on the one negative comment she may make about said player.

It's ridiculous, but that's true of 99.9% of what goes on here. Lauren = good, Lisa = bad. It is what it is. Lisa, being the most highly decorated player in this sport's history, isn't losing any sleep over it, so...

True I doubt she cares, or even knows, but still one quote and someone says oh that's typical Lisa Leslie, when that one quote is taken out of context along with no mention of all the complimentary things she has said about all the teams and players.

you guys are weird. who hates hammon? i don't. i don't know her at all.

i know her motivation to become a naturalized russian citizen was borne out of sour grapes and that her placement on that team leaves off a real russian athlete.

seems like an arrogant american reaction to me, thus, i'm glad she didn't win.

Why does that count as an arrogant American reaction when athletes from other countries are doing the exact same thing for the exact same reason, in fact may less of a reason because they don't get a monetary benefit like Becky is getting.

athletes that aren't good enough to qualify for their country's team joining lesser teams is normal?

i guess it isn't only american sour grapes then.

my sentiment extends to them, as well.

Yes, I just watched a Rhythmic gymnast who is from Russia but competes for another country because she was rated the 6th best in Russia and only the top 5 make the team, there were also a few swimmers and gymnasts who have done the same thing. And I wouldn't be surprised if every sport at these Olympics had at least one athlete who competed for another country other than the one they were born in. Some for not the exact same reason, example Oksana Chusovitina competes for Germany as a way to honor and thank the country for saving her son's life.

And you say that I'm the weird one? Rolling Eyes

I don't know, but it would be funny if you were actually routing for some of these people/teams since Becky Hammon is the only one you knew who didn't compete for the country she was born in.
