Stacy Lewis leads one shot after two rounds:
Of note: Tiger Woods' niece Cheyenne, made her first LPGA cut and is currently tied at 18th. A big finish here Sunday could get her exempt in 2013 on the LPGA and or LET tour.
Big Weezy made the cut, barely.
Some big name Yanks did not. |

Final round under way, leaders are Lewis and Webb at -11. 17 players are at within three shots with the final group of In Bee Park and Lewis on #5.
16 year old amateur Hyo Joo Kim (Yu-J), is at -10, she has plans to go thru Q-school, same scenario Thompson had last year. If she were to win, it will be a tough decision for Whan, to grant her an exception. Kim is Korean, English?, parents?, support? He would have to let her I suppose albeit it may or may not be the right choice.
The Evian is slated to become the LPGA's 5th major next year following major course improvements to make it more difficult but fair, but it is really being formulated like the Masters. The course is in the French Alps, they matched the US Open purse several years now, and is really a global event, in partnership with the LET, KLPGA and JLPGA.
They really need to either add a 6th major for Asia, or rotate one of the US based majors back and forth between Asia and the US. |

This was just a great championship. Bee Park put on a putting disply like no other. I think she made a 40 footer on 15 for par to keep a 1 shot lead over a pack of hungry dogs
IBP has only won two tournaments as a pro but if that's the case, US Open and Evian Masters are the best two to win.
They will close the course this year to make it tougher, espcially on the four finishing holes. 18 will be changed from a par 5 to a four and they will make it more difficult as well.
Congratulations to The Evian and the Ladies for putting on a great show of golf.
This kid Hyu Joo Kim has a great golf swing, it's very much like Yani's but much tighter which gives her control but less power. She will need to stretch out a bit on her tee shots to be the best but but I can see her already as close to Lexi as the next big thing. Hope she get's thru tour school and watching her demeanor I see no problem for her getting an exemption to the age rule. She carries herself very well.
ETA: I saw that Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus is now sponsoring Jenny Feng, uh, nice move there Jack, the Li Na of Chinese golf and you are in the golf course business |
