Holy crap, this really was not on my radar today.

http://www.lpgascoring.com/public/Leaderboard.aspx

I press the button, and guess who is tied for the lead?

Ryann O'Toole. This kid is obviously not the poster child for consistency, but don't be fooled, you give this kid, O'toole, an ounce, she will take a gallon, hide and watch, I guess.

Rookie Mo Martin makes grandpa proud

This is a really good read, so read it.

I can't say that I know much about her, except that she has been on the leader board already, as a rookie. The main thing for a rookie in these tough economic times, earn your spot for next year.

Hopefully Mo can do that this week, because I definitely think the kid is a star in this game.

Golf Course: Locust Hill CC, Rochester, NY

When they signed up for this tournament a few years ago, they were warned to make it a championship layout. Well, here we are, narrow fairways, super thick rough, hardwood trees every where, and small fast greens.

This is classic old style golf on an old style course.

Final Round, wow, coverage starts at 1:00pm, last group doesn't tee off until 1:40pm (Central). They are covering this like a men's major. Shocked

Anyone within 5 shots could easily win today. The course is very difficult, hit it in the rough and you make bogey or double.

Lot's of big names on the board, Karrie Webb is in 2nd at 3 under, Ji leads, Pak is now at E. I like Pak and Webb on courses like this.

ShanShan Feng! Fired a 67, -5 today, she's in the clubhouse, at 6 under, but it must be excruciating, three players are playing 18 right now with a chance to tie if they hole their second shot, 1 player, odds are about the same as the lottery, but 4 (including Patterson), you have a measurable probability.

History is made, Shanshan (Jenny), and she speaks fluent English, wins her first major at only 22 years old. Golf channel should be embarassed as they get caught over looking her. She is on her 5th year on tour, she has 16 top tens, 2 wins on the Japanese tour last year and a win in China on the LET this year.

Ranked 10th in the world, this makes her 4th in the world. Was Li Na ever ranked 4th in the world. They built the first golf course in China about five years before she was born.

Gerina Pillar of Roswell NM had a benchmark round, had a chance to win until she made a 7 on 17, still finished, 68, 3 under total, T6, made her first cut in a major, but more important secures her position for next year, a big hitter, this just might put her over top and ready win.

LPGA returning here this year, 8/6-8/12, at Highland Meadows, Van. Did not realize this was already the 27th edition for the J. Farr Classic.

They have started coverage on & off at the toledoblade.com/sports. Had a commentary on 6/12 by D. Hackenberg.
[My 83 old father watches every golf event he can locate on Golf TV or otherwise and adores women's golf, always much to my amazement, considering his opinion of any other women's sport.]

Enjoy your future viewing, Van!

I love the Jamie Farr, I like that when they canceled last year, they said we WILL be back next year. Toledo, towns like that are how the LPGA made their mark, bring REAL professional golf to places that have no world class professional teams, frankly that is how I think the WNBA could really make a niche in the sport market. If you combine towns, with no real competitive sport, with TV contracts, I think you have something, that is how the lpga did it. They went to places that had no world class sport.

You know, I used to advocate this with Clay, etc... And now that we have the "the best new arena in the Midwest" for 2 yrs running, new Triple AAA stadium, always packed, hockey, a Casino that just opened, an airport the size where Airforce One lands regularly(politics), and 2 hotels being brought up to 5 star level, hey at least the WNBA could visit once in a while. The Pistons have, pulled in 6,000.

In the meantime, we will enjoy the LPGA and Toledo WBB seating 7,300.

Thanks for the plug, Vance-can't wait until August!
