Really??? Is there really another hurricane heading towards Texas and La this next weekend?? Has anyone heard about Rita?

i only know that the morning news was reporting that tourist evacuations in the florida keys were ordered, and a mass exodus ensued over the weekend; and that next they were gonna order the evacuation of people in mobile homes. but keys residents haven't been ordered out officially yet.

I don't have a good feeling about this. I'm an old severe-weatherhead and, if my memory is correct, these images of Rita look to me exactly like Katrina just before it scraped across Florida, only a little further South. Nearly impossible to think it would strengthen to a CAT-4 storm but it's big and heading right into the Gulf and all that warm water.

i'm kinda with you jammer. it looks awfully big. the track points it more toward texas, but right now it just looks damned big.
