I can't believe the Brazil match.
Team USA is looking very strong. Hooker and Tom are sweet to watch.

Japan beating GB pretty soundly. The Japanese passing is still exceptional!

Turkey's defense is incredible. USA dominating.

This is a really fun match to watch...almost ideal because the US isn't in danger (so I don't stress) but some really great play by Turkey!

Potentially not having your starting setter available going forward -- and only carrying one backup -- is worth at least a small amount of stress...

Yep but hadn't happened when I posted.
I've torn my Achilles and there was nothing about the look on her face or her movement that suggested a tear...that said it is kind of a key body part so certainly doesn't take a critical injury to mess her up for the next week.
Hope it was one of those things that is more scary than damaged.

Japan defeated China 3-2 in the Opening Quarterfinal Matchup. Was an exciting third set.
Right now Russia and Brazil tied 1-1, with Brazil leading 3-1 early in the thrid set.

Another great 5 setter!! What determination by both teams to not give up keeping the final set going to 21-19.
Brazil wins 3-2 over Russia to advance to the Semifinal round to play Japan.

Amazing quarterfinals so far. I feel bad for China and Russia, both have tons of players that played their last match ever. But yay for Japan and Brazil.

Crazy stuff. Thought about all the times Russia beat us when we were superior. 'Bout damn time they gave one away.

South Korea upsets Italy to advance and play Brazil. I see a Brazil-USA rematch in the final.

USA takes the first set from Korea, 25-20, with Berg back in the starting lineup today. Quite disappointing that NBC didn't see fit to air this match on any of its channels...
