And since the pre-All-Star Game streak, the Comets have not won more than two games in a row.
Blame can be doled out to nearly every player on the roster. There is one exception: Sheryl Swoopes. She rebounded from her worst season to become a beacon for the Comets throughout 2005.
For the fifth time in six years, Swoopes received the most votes for the All-Star Game. Swoopes didn't play in the season finale Saturday because of an illness but still won the WNBA individual scoring title. |

Assistant coach Kevin Cook said the last two victories, including Saturday's 77-51 blowout of the Sparks at Toyota Center, are an indication the club is ready to make it "mission accomplished."
"You're only as good as your last game, and our last game was pretty doggone good," Cook said. "Our last two games have been pretty good. So things are coming together.
"The entire season has been a work in progress, and this is what you play for all season long. We just hope to carry that momentum we've built into the playoffs." |
