There will be a change to the LPGA consitution proposed next month at the annual players meeting and the executive committee will recommend to its players that they vote to allow transgender athletes to seek membership.
Lawless filed suit last month in San Francisco in California Federal Court, claiming discrimination by the LPGA's "female by birth" rule. The United States Golf Association, the European Ladies Tour and the International Olympic Committee have all changed their policies to allow transgender participation.
The change to the LPGA's constitutional by-laws will require a two-thirds approval by its membership.
Even if the LPGA votes to allow transgender participation, Lawless' attorney, Christopher Dolan, said his client will continue with the lawsuit seeking damages from the LPGA for interfering with Lawless' ability to earn a living as a professional golfer.
The LPGA by-laws also currently prohibit Lawless from becoming a teaching member of the association.
