i know. they are scary.
folks - even you hardcore, straight-up coke drinkers - do try the coke zero just once. you may be amazed. because until now, i would rather die of thirst than drink diet coke. i tried c2, but it was so missing something (not sugar, but sodium, i think).
so don't knock it till you've tried it. that's all i'm saying (as jammer is wont to say).

damn you, b! you just HAD to mention guarana. i was pretending to ignore that i missed it so. these american companies have tried so many variations on the drink - and with stupid names, i might add, like that blue bottle called "bawls" - but it's not the same. red bull? shoot. get you some guarana, baby! antarctica! i have a hard enough time tracking down mate, let alone guarana. but since i don't drink beer, when i'm in brasil, if it's not caipirinhas, it's guarana!

I would actually suggest trying it twice. I was underwhelmed for most of the first one, but by the time I opened the second I was hooked. I like diet and regular too, but I haven't had a regular one since Zero came out. I have about two a day at work, and we only have bottles. That makes a difference of more than 400 calories a day.

Not in my part of Indiana. When you said soda it meant ice cream soda. |
I was in Bloomington....called it pop once and my co-workers made me "laughing stock of the day". That was actually the fastest I've ever been corrected. |
Where I am, it seems like most people call it Coke -- even if they mean root beer, Sprite, Diet Pepsi, or Orange Crush. You will hear this at someone's house:
-- Do you want a Coke?
-- Sure.
-- What kind? I have Diet Coke, Mountain Dew and Pepsi.

Same here. It's all coke.

Coke from Mexico taste better - REAL cane sugar!
Some soft drink vendors have the Mexican Cokes available.
When I was in Ethiopia, the Coca Cola was SOOOO good. Sugar cane growing everywhere and a bottling plant right there in Addis Ababa.
A completly diferent taste than the corn syrup or whatever is in the Cokes here in the states.

My two cents:
I loved Diet Coke w/Lime but then I tried Diet Coke with SPLENDA which is surely another chemical that will contribute to my untimely death. I drink about 2-3 of those a day, plus one Fresca (with aspartame) at night since I'm pretty sure it has no caffeine.
I prefer Diet Coke w/Splenda to Coke Zero. The DC w/Splenda is ALL Splenda sweetener; the Coke Zero is half Splenda and half aspartame.
I'll be very happy when they make Diet Coke w/Splenda AND Lime.
Bibb- you countin'? That would make 16...
And now, back to Sacto/Phoenix.
Can't believe NY lost tonight. dayum.

Wait a minute. you're saying the zero stuff these guys are ranting about has aspartame in it? why does Coke keep doing that? They put it in their new C2 drink and now they've put it in the new one. Jeez. So you're saying there's a Diet Coke with all Splenda. I'll have to try that I guess.

YES.
Try Diet Coke with Splenda. To me, it's the most like real Coke because Splenda is the most like sugar. I think Bibb disagrees with me, but she's wrong, dammit!
DC w/Splenda has ONLY splenda.
Coke Zero has 1/2 splenda & half aspartame.
Diet Coke w/Lime has ONLY aspartame.
Diet Coke has ONLY aspartame.
You can read it on the ingredients on the can, babe.
aw, crap. MSG is re-airing the Lib game now, so I can be unhappy all over again. maybe it's time to watch my tape of the last episode of 6 feet under...

tp, don't you do that! we had this debate already. coke zero DOES NOT HAVE SPLENDA. it is half aspartame, half ace-k. now stop that!
um, i'm reading it on the can, g-friend. don't see no stinkin' splenda on my coke zero. say it with me: ASPARTAME.

ok. my bad. you're right.
coke zero is half ace-k and half aspartame.
splenda is sucralose.
diet coke w/splenda has sucralose AND ace k!
initially, i thought that ace k was the real name for the chemical in splenda - but it is the much more simple sucralose.
sorry.
damn that chas melvin...

my puter's sputterin', but it did boot up and now i'm backing up (and crossing my fingers). but yes, i brought the old thinkpad home and fired it up just to give you grief!
i don't think ace-k is splenda, but we have someone who answered the chemistry question earlier. maybe we can get an answer on this. still, don't you think it would be weird for coca-cola to refer to splenda for one product and this ace-k (a much scarier name, i must say) for another?
i'll shout out if i'm wrong, but i can't find anything definitive. this is what i found on the coke site (stay away from that beverage place. those people are whack!):
"Coca-Cola Zero will be sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium (ace-k), and will be available in a broad range of package sizes. The launch of Coca-Cola Zero will have no impact on Coca-Cola North Americas ongoing support for Diet Coke, Americas #1 diet soft drink, as the target audiences are different."
The launch of Coca-Cola Zero continues a year of innovation for
Coca-Cola North America, including a range of new product offerings across all beverage categories. Full Throttle energy drink, Coca-Cola with Lime, and Dasani Lemon and Dasani Raspberry flavored waters have already been launched, with Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda as well as Coca-Cola Zero slated for later this year, as well as new packaging for POWERade."
