She was a resident of an institution here in Jefferson, Wisconsin, my state's link to the Kennedys...

Rosemary Kennedy (Rose was the mother - dead for quite a while Wink ).

Another in the line line of Kennedy tragedies. Rosemary had Downs Syndrome, but was very much part of the family. As she got older she became more difficult to handle, just like the rest of us. The Kennedy's were advised by a doctor to have her lobotomized. The doctor (stupid asshole) told them she would basically be the same only more compliant, so they went along with it. Of course they ended up with someone who was practically a vegetable. A very sad story.

She was christened Rose Marie Kennedy, though she was commonly known as Rosemary. Her friends and family called her Rosie.
