Inkster V pettersen

They are still going, Inkster won 3 US Amateurs, back to back. That's match play. On the men side Tiger is the only name that comes to mind.

Inkster may be pushing 50, but she ain't going to give you anything. You have to beat her.

Inkster wins.

ETA:

Wie v Stacy P.

This match will be close and I will take Stacy P.; Stacy P is your worst nightmare in match play. She plinks the ball around, she makes par from frigg'n everywhere, you have to run over her, if you play to her level she will drive your ass crazy.

Stacy P. beat Pettersen in Sweden in Solheim Cup; doing exactly what I describe above. In match play nothing gets inside your head more than a player who continually pulls par outta their ass! Laughing

ETA: Again, the reason I pick Stacy P, besides just history, I've played a tournament on the course she learned to play on in OK. This is a wind blown, cold, SOB course, with greens the speed of glass. So I know she had to learn all the shots to get to the LPGA, she will drive Wie nuts.

If Wie wins, she will have to run over her.

This match is unfreak'n believable golf. Both players are making birdies. At this point it is Duke 1 up over the Hogs, the Hogs stuck it six inches on 17, but Duke stuck it about three feet aft.

Blumenherst just refuses to give up a hole!

Duke misses the putt.

AS going to 18.

Fuck! The bad news is that TGC will defer to PGA Tour on schedule, the good news is TGC knows they have some great golf, so they will continue to cover and then show it later, extended coverage at 6:30 EDT.

Shocked Two words, Wild Turkey... Very Happy Wie shot 65, that pretty much wins every time... Blumenherst also shot 65, beat Lewis 1 up with an eagle on the 18th, That's play'n.

2nd Round

Wie vs Oh

[Opps, it's Wie vs park]

Should be a walk in the park for Wie, but match play has it's own beat...

Coming up,

Today, Wie vs Shin

Now that is a frigg'n golf match, and the LPGA needs Wie to win. I'll take Shin, a great, great player.

Stanford is still alive as well, so if you have an American homer in the final, that would be good, but one, Stanford or Wie needs to win IMO, to make this a watchable event tomorrow.

Wie 1 up

Stanford 1 down v Matthew.

I have to think that albeit slated three hours, TGC will carry this one to the end.

Great stuff!!!!

I actually said to my Roomate, "It's typically better for Michelle if I don't watch.."

Right on cue Michelle goes in the rough.

I don't know about this one, Wie has the decided advantage with her length, but Shin has tested her twice already making her make short putts, a fairly standard tactic, but Wie passed the test.

I think I may be wrong, at this point I like Wie to win this one.

In other matches Amy Yang has played great all week, so I give her the win.

Stanford is playing Matthew, Stanford should win but her putter seems to be rather deviant, so I like Mathew in that match.

It's just great golf. No other way to say it.

For about a month now, I sorta noticed that Wie's swing is better than she has ever swung the club, so if she can some how learn to get the ball in the hole (she is getting better there too), it's not inconceivable that she could be the #1 player in the world, if not this year, then next.

But this week is a big frigg'n deal, it's an opportunity to make a statement, she has a clear advantage on this track, but can she capitalize?

Well, that is what we are watching Laughing That's what we want to know Laughing

Good grief! How good was that last putt by Shin. That's the kinda shit that gets under an opponents skin...

She's either dodging bullets, or Michelle is missing golden opportunities. That's gonna come back to bite Michelle, IMO.

Well, the thing is, I think Wie is way more mature than she gets credit for, in match play, the rule of thumb is assume your opponent makes the shot. that's basic fundamental doctrine.

But can Wie win this match? We don't know that one, that is why we are watching the damned thing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Shocked Nice...she would make THAT one.

If Shin made her's it would have been hilarious.

edit: and..she pretty much gives it back..

Here we go, Wie played a really stupid shot there. If she is going to attack off the tee she should have had driver in her hand. Instead she is damned in the rough...

I think that was just game...

Yup....

Michelle should have won this one..She had many opportunities. She's got a ton of talent..just needs to learn how to put the ball in the hole.

Yea, I mean that was just plain dumb and stupid, they gave you a parking lot target short of those bunkers, which Shin gladly accepted. Wie pulls out 3 wood and challenges, over the bunkers. WTF! If you are going to challenge those bunkers, hit a frigg'n driver. So it was a double brain fart. She challenged a gimmie drive, and then pulls an inferior club.

Double brain fart and she pays the price.

Ok, so I have thought about this, Wie, and how she continually fucks up in the moment. So I have decided that she does not quite grasp the moment. She just seems to just randomly throw decisions out there, randomly. It is possible to be too smart for your own good. When you get to a moment in golf, you have to decide. You have to choose, but no matter what that decision is, you have to go with it. Like that crazy dumb ass shot Lefty hit at the Masters on 13 this year. Not smart but he made a decision and he went with it 110%!

RE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HwNnNszqIM

It seems to me that Wie just craps out, she just randomly picks a shot, as if it is just another shot. So philosophically she is right, golf is a continuum, you just hit shots, day after day. But the reality is that some shots are big shots, some decisions really count. I think she is in denial of that reality.

Well, I think Yang has played the best golf all week, but she loses to Angie.

The bad news is Shin lost, so the final match will be Stanford agsinst Yoo.

The thing about golf, is it's quantitative, so the best player wins every damned time.

So, here we go, at least there is a homer in the final Laughing
