UConn still unanimous
Top 13 unchanged
Michigan State up 4
Maryland, Dayton, and Louisville in
Mississippi State, Kansas, and San Diego State out

my bigger concern is the descrepencies...namely Gtech is ranked in the AP and only gets ONE vote in the ESPN...Yeesh.

I think you could roll the dice for the last 5 or so. Some oddball choices IMO. Obviously, no clear consensus in the bottom of the rankings.

The coaches don't really seem to take the poll as seriously as the writers. When you add the general consensus that there's not a lot of difference after the first few teams, it's a recipe for some odd-looking results.

As it's so early in the season and things are so uncertain this year, the polls shouldn't be too much in agreement. If they were, I'd have to ascribe it to groupthink -- voters in each poll looking at the other one to get an idea of how to vote.

I wonder if some voters pick the 25 best teams RIGHT NOW (as if the NCAA Tourney were held today), and other voters pick based on the 25 teams that think will be best at SEASONS END.
Those would give different results for many teams.

What also may enter into ranking decisions is if you actually saw the team play, physically at court, or even on tv/online. After we (U of Tol) played NWestern, knew this team was tall and big, with bench depth, and would perform better than BigTen pre-season rankings. To base vote on group think or last yr's performance, not taking other factors such as loss of seniors, more freshmen, new coach, w/o trying to see them, even online, or look at stats and other factors mentioned seems professionally lazy, IMHO. And yes, it is early in pre-season and projections are not taken particularily seriously by many of the voters.
